Much like the excitement of the new book releases that come with a new year, the movies that are hitting the cinemas are just the same. This coming year there are, like every year, so many movies that will be released throughout 2017, and while there are probably some that I want to see that I’m still unaware of as of this moment, there are some that have been announced that I’m looking forward to.

As I was compiling this list, I realised that 50% of them are superhero movies. No judgement here, though, right? Right.

The others are a mix of Disney (eep Beauty and the Beast!), and sequels in various movie series. While I have been waiting for Pirates for a while (although the first one is the best and the sort of progressively get worse, I still really want to see this, the 5th movie), I didn’t even know that they were making a The Nut Job 2. The first didn’t even come to NZ cinemas, and my sister and I discovered it by accident. But it’s a thoroughly enjoyable kids animated film that definitely produced a lot of giggles.

Pitch Perfect 3 has had some rumours cleared up and news announced in the past few months, but still looking forward it to. I enjoyed the first two, so hopefully the third won’t be terrible.

Here are some of the movies I’m looking forward to in 2017.
