A few days ago I saw this fun tag on Still Being Molly and since I haven’t do a tag in a long while now I thought it would be fun to give it a go. There are so many questions (duh, Anjali, 100), but it was really neat to be able to go through them all. There are some that I’ve semi-cheated with, and merged the options together, and a few that don’t apply, but you’ll see those when/if you read it (I get it, it’s long).
Enough chit-chat; let’s jump on in!
- Are you named after anyone? Not really, not anyone ‘real’. My mum was reading a book one day and saw the name ‘Anjali’ and really liked it. I do have connections with India (where the name comes from) as my Dad grew up there.
- What would your parents have named you if you were the opposite gender? Jonathan.
- When was the last time you cried? Maybe in a movie? Or a TV show? Maybe? I’m not much of a crier.
- Do you have kids? Nope
- If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself? I think so yeah!
- Do you use sarcasm a lot? A medium amount…?
- What’s the first thing you notice about people? How they interact with others, their sense of humour (so I can gauge what’s gonna be funny and what’s gonna be sad), and how they hold themselves.
- What is your eye colour? Blue blue blue. Very blue. But a medium blue, not super light.
- Scary movie or happy endings? Happy endings! I’m not that into horror; I’ll watch a creepy movie or a suspense movie on occasion, but I’m not going to pick that over a happy movie.
- Favourite smells? A new book, an old book, freshly cut grass, the smell of hot pavement after it’s rained, rain, pumpkin spice.
- What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home? Living in New Zealand means everywhere is pretty far, but if you drilled through the earth, the antipodes of Auckland (where I am currently) is Setenil de las Bodegas in Spain. I haven’t been to Spain but I have been to Portugal, which is right next door, so that’s the farthest I’ve been, nearly as far as humanly possible, just 348km short, or four hours drive.
- Do you have any special talents? What do we think it means when it says ‘special’? I can play piano, guitar, ukulele and did my time on drums and flute? I can paint? I can write? I can read over 50 books a year? Are these special talents? I don’t know.
- Where were you born? The South Island of New Zealand.
- What language, besides your native language, would you like to be fluent in? Spanish, definitely (I know un poco Español, but would love to be fluent).
- What are your hobbies? A better question would be ‘what aren’t you hobbies?’ Reading, writing, travelling, crafting, photography, playing music, watching shows, sewing … Name a hobby, I’ve probably dabbled in it.
- Do you have any pets? Currently Bonnie, black lab.
- Do you have any siblings? Two sisters, younger.
- What did you want to be when you grew up? Literally nothing. I don’t mean I didn’t want to have a job or anything, I mean there was never anything that I thought ‘yeah, I wanna be X when I grow up’. Nothing.
- Who was your first best friend? This kid who lived in the apartment block we lived in in Mongolia. Haven’t seen him since I was about 5 years old. I wonder what he’s up to …
- How tall are you? *Puts hand on top of head* This tall.

- Who are some of your favourite fashion brands? NA

- Have you forgiven yourself for past personal failures? Why or why not? Woah, that took a deep turn. Yeah I think so! I tend not to dwell on things; as Rafiki says (and yes I am 100% quoting a fictional baboon like someone would Oprah), “The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it or learn from it”
- Have you ever won a trophy or an award? What was it for? Yes! In Intermediate I won the Citizenship Award for the year group, which basically just meant I was a kind kid. I also got top of our region in Intermediate (I’m sensing a theme…I think I peaked young) for Grade One piano. That’s all I can think of. Couple of awards in high school, too.
