Book Review :: Feedback , by Robison Wells

I don’t want to give too much away, but Feedback, by Robison Wells (sequel to Variant), continues moments after the events of Variant.

Benson Fisher, the main character, is on the run with Becky, a human girl from back at the school they are running from: Maxfield Academy. I say ‘human’ because the majority of students at Maxfield aren’t ..and that’s why they are running. They don’t run long before they reach a village – a village full of the dead students they just left. I won’t say much more about the plot, because a) I really don’t want to give it away and b) it’s a little bit complicated.

But with typical teenage cliques, hidden rooms in walls and chicken coops, robot clones, many many unanswered questions, a bit of romance in amongst a bit of blood and guts, Feedback is an amazing sequel and an awesome read. It’s very well written, in first person from the perspective of Benson, and Wells ensures that the story catches your attention and imagination on the very first page.

Fast-paced and never a boring moment, I highly recommend these books. Obviously, start with Variant, but make sure you don’t wait as long as I did to read the next one. Although, having said that, it was well worth the wait.
