A new year, a new January, and the height of summer here in New Zealand. Over the course of the summer, our country has The Great New Zealand Clear Out. Basically from Christmas to after New Years, everyone goes away, and the cities, while still busy, seem that little bit quieter. This year was no different, and as the summer continues into February in a few weeks, school will be starting back, and the masses will be flocking home.

For those lucky few (Uni students, I’m looking at you), summer goes on, and what better way to celebrate that (despite my hate of the heat) than with this amazing summer-time-feeling image. This was taken by Jakob Owens on Unsplash, and pretty much sums up NZ summers. It would be unusual if you didn’t spend any time by the water over summer, whether than be at the beach, the lake, the pool, so this really is the perfect picture of summer.

So whether you’re heading back to work, have another week of school holidays, or actually live in the Northern Hemisphere and are knee deep in snow right now, I wish you the very best for the rest of your January, and I hope that these beautiful blue hues inspire you in some way.
