3 Reasons to Visit Bath, England

Taking a trip to the UK? You need to visit Bath, England

While I lived in the United Kingdom, one of the things that my mum, sister and I did with our friends was visit Bath, England.

It was on my list of places that I wanted to check out during my few years in Endland, and it did not disappoint. It was only about an hour away from where we were living in England, so we thought we would make a girls’ day out of it and go and see the Jane Austen house, and leave the men at home to go tramping in the hills (or rambling as they called it there).

Bath is beautiful! You may recall me saying that I think we should move to Oxford, because it’s beautiful, well, after our trip to Bath, I wanted to live there, too.

There were 3 main things that we did while we were there, and while I’m sure there are many other things to check out in this pretty city, these 3 are all worth doing, and even just one of these is reason enough to visit Bath, England.

The city of Bath, England

Wandering around the streets of Bath is a wonder in itself. Beautiful old buildings, stunning columns, and cobbled paths; it’s like stepping into an old novel. We were there on a beautiful autumn day, with crisp clear skies, and it made the whole place even more beautiful if that was possible. It’s worth a visit just for a simple wander through the streets.

Check out The Jane Austen Centre

We went to The Jane Austen Centre, which was like a small exhibition of the dresses and attire of the day, as well as rooms set up like a study and a dining room. There was a little introduction at the beginning, given by a guy who knew so much about Jane and her life, complete with tidbits of knowledge about her novels too.

If you’re an Austen fan, then this is a must. It’s a great collection of items, and at the end, you get to try on some props.

“Why, yes, good Sir. I shall marry you.” *swoon*

Visit Bath Abbey

The Bath Abbey reminded me of some kind of Elvin building. That sounds weird and geeky, I know. But all the stone is really light in colour, and it’s really tall and then curves and bends like trees, like something out of the Elvin cities in Lord of The Rings.

It’s just as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside, and the stonework is stunning.

If even one of those reasons captivates your attention, then make sure you visit Bath, England. It really is a beautiful city, and definitely a fun day out.
