It’s Fandom of the Month Club time again! If you’re a little out of the loop with what this is, the Fandom of the Month Club is a monthly subscription box where every month you’re sent this great box with 3-4 pieces of themed jewellery, all centered around a different fandom per month. They’ve just recently started including a magnet too, and this month there was also another surprise non-jewellery piece! Eep!

So this month’s box was… Percy Jackson! So I have to admit something to you guys. I’m not actually a part of this fandom. It’s one of those that I didn’t really get into, because I haven’t read the books. I did see the movie when it came out, but I’m not a har core fan like a lot of people out there. However! I really love Greek mythology and did Classical Studies at school and at Universtiy, so it’s always been a series that I’ve been meaning to pick up at some stage. So while I haven’t read the books, I still really liked this box because of my love of classics.

And that’s one of the main reasons I love this subscription box – even if you’re not in that particular fandom, the jewellery is usually non-fandom friendly too. Even if you don’t like Percy Jackson, or classics, you can still wear these pieces without them being super obviously Percy Jackson. Make sense? I’m ramblering. Here’s what was in September’s Percy Jackson box:

Stash Bag, Shwings, magnet and information card

Each month you get a little stash bag, printed and made by Sand Sink, and also a themed card that reads ‘Fandom of the Month Club’ and has all the information about the box and it’s creators and contributors on the back.
This month, as I mentioned, they also included a random pair of Shwings! Eeep! If you, like I was, are unfamiliar with Shwings, they are literally wings for your shoes…shoe wings. Shwings. And if you’re trying to work out the connection between Percy Jackson and Shwings…either read the books, watch the movie, or check out the awesomeness that Hermes, the messenger god. Pretty excited to put these on my shoes, guys.

Pegasus Necklace

See? Even if you’re not a part of the PJ fandom, how cool is this necklace? Who doesn’t want a flying horse necklace? Exactly. My only gripe with this necklace is that the chain is quite short, and while i could change it, I don’t have any black/dark chain, so it would have to be bronze or silver…which may wreck the look. I’ll have a go maybe…

Camp Half Blood Earrings

I feel like this is the only super obvious fandom piece in this month’s box. The earrings say ‘Camp Half Blood’ on them, which is where Percy goes and hangs out. They also have a pegasus again. But they’re still cute, and I will definitely wear them.

Trident Ring

I think this is my favourite piece this month. How cute is this ring?! I feel like it could be multiple things; Percy Jackson trident, Greek mythology related, King Triton from Disney’s Ariel…you can make it what you want. This has to be a pinky ring, however, as even though it’s slightly adjustable, it’s not so adjustable that I’m comfortable stretching it out to fit my other fingers. It’s a tad too big for my pinky finger, but I can squash it a little, and all good!

Verdict

Read my initial verdict over at the April box.

Obviously this is my favourite thing ever, and I will continue getting this subscription box, probably until they stop doing it, or I die. Whatever comes first. I have no idea what next month’s will be yet, but according to a little hint on the FOTMC Instagram, it’s something spooky! Speculation in the comments think Supernatural, a few are hoping for Hocus Pocus, or Walking Dead … but whatever the theme, I’m looking forward to it!

If you’re keen to try it out, you can get it for just one month, and right now if you sign up, I get my next box for free! What! I know! You can use my referral link if you’d like (no pressure!…seriously, no pressure. Only if you’d like to try out this awesome box), and get ready for your squees of excitement to happen!
