Visiting Multnomah Falls In Oregon America

Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall in America.

TLC wouldn’t be happy with us, but we did go chasing waterfalls. And this one was pretty impressive, to say the least. While we in America last month, we headed out on a ticky tour of the north end of Oregon, and ended up visiting Multnomah Falls, with approximately a million other people. The first tip I will give you about visiting the falls is don’t go on a Saturday at midday. That’s when everyone is there. But crowds aside (apparently 2.5 million visitors come to view it each year!), it was a really neat place to visit.

The upper fall plunging 542 feet and the lower fall 69 feet with a 9 foot elevation drop between the two falls distinguishes Multnomah Falls as the highest waterfall in the state of Oregon, and second highest year-round waterfall in the nation. – Multnomah Falls Lodge website

There are two viewing platforms, one near the bottom and then one about halfway up that looks like a bridge from Rivendell. There’s a walking path at the very very top, but it’s currently closed due to storm damage, I believe. But the small trek up to the bridge is well worth it; it’s even colossal half way up!

At the bottom of the falls there’s a shop and lodge, though with the crowds as they were we didn’t venture in. If you’re even in the area then I highly recommend checking them out; just pick your day carefully.
