What is Will Grayson/Will Grayson about?

Will Grayson/Will Grayson is written by John Green and David Levithan. The story is about two teens called Will Grayson and alternates between the two characters, and also between the two authors.

Will Grayson’s side of things is written by John Green, while will grayson (it’s written in lower case) is written by David Levithan. While the two Wills lead very different lives, have never met before, and even live in different states, their paths cross one night on an unlikely Chicago street corner. After that night, both Will’s lives take a different turn, battling with love, loss, betrayal and one heck of a school musical.

Both Wills are very different.

Will Grayson lives at home with his two parents, goes to school, can’t decide whether he likes a girl or not, hangs out with his ginormous gay best friend, Tiny Cooper, and has two rules: 1. Don’t Care too Much, and 2. Shut Up.

will grayson, however, is a depressed teen who can’t decide if killing himself, or killing everyone around him would be more beneficial. will lives with his mother, whom he doesn’t like talking to, doesn’t really have any good friends, but constantly talks to Isaac online. When Isaac and will decide to meet up (in Chicago), will discovers that Isaac is not who he says he is.

On that street corner in Chicago is where he meets Will Grayson and eventually Tiny Cooper, who were in the area listening to an obscure band, intertwining the two stories at last.

My thoughts on Will Grayson/Will Grayson, by John Green & David Levithan

I started and finished Will Grayson/Will Grayson, by John Green & David Levithan in about 3 days at the end of November, and really enjoyed it. I don’t think it’s my favourite JG book (that honour still goes to The Fault in our Stars), but it was definitely very good.

While the story is about Will Grayson and will grayson, I felt like the story was really about Tiny Cooper.

Sure both Wills grow and develop and change, and are the title of the book, but without ironically-named, huge personality, Tiny, none of that would have happened.

It’s a great story about friendship, and love, and how one person can change your life. It’s about accepting who you are, letting yourself love somebody else and being loved in return. The characters were great, and while will grayon’s story was a bit tough at times, it was stitched with humour which was great. I think it was brilliant having the two different authors voice two different characters because they really were very different.
