(Warning: Will contain pictures with funny doodles, as I have just bought a Wacom Bamboo Graphics Tablet, which I am taking for a test drive in the next couple of posts (there will be a post coming soon about it!), so I can get used to it…apologies for bad handwriting…)
I can’t really express how much I love A Beautiful Mess. If you haven’t ever seen the blog, you basically haven’t lived yet. Started in 2007, it’s written by Elise and Emma, sisters who share a love of all things creative, beautiful, DIY projects, photography, recipes…seriously, these two are the bee’s knees. When they announced that they were launching a photo editing app, I nearly died. I bought it as soon as I could, and it’s one of my favourite things on my iPod. Shortly after I bought the app, I discovered that they were releasing a photo ideas book. Again, it was a must-have. And the other day, it arrived in the mail.
And, my bloggy friends, it’s just as amazing as I knew it would be.

It’s not a book about technique, they are quick to point out, which is great because sometimes you don’t want a ‘how-to’ book, you just want a little bit of inspiration. Which is exactly what these girlies do. Inspire.
The book is made up of 8 different sections, each with a bunch of different ideas to get your creativity flowing. Not only do they talk about the ideas, the show you beautiful photos or examples and comparisons, which is super helpful, and gives you an idea of what they mean.

For all of you lovely people who like taking selfies (you can admit it, you know! We all do!), then there’s a section just for you: Capturing Yourself. Emma and Elsie talk about how to take great selfies that don’t look like they are selfies, where to hold your camera, how to try different angles to get a different look. They’ve also thrown in a challenge, which I’m totally going to be doing at some point in the near future.

Full of amazing photography and fantastic tips, A Beautiful Mess Photo Ideas Photo is a great inspiration-filled paperback that is a very reasonable price, and if you’re a blogger of any sort, and you’d like to improve your photos, I highly recommend getting your hands on this book. If you’re not a blogger, but you love documenting your life, then this is also for you. And for everyone else, buy it anyway; you’ll look at things differently and snap pictures you didn’t know you could.
