Welcome to the Auckland Botanic Gardens!
Even though we had planned to go there anyway for a visit, it was a bonus when my friend and I had downloaded Pokemon Go the night before. The Botanic Gardens in Auckland are an amazing place to go and catch Pokemon. Go there. Catch ’em all.
The Auckland Botanic Gardens are big and beautiful. They’re a mixture of wide-open, sweeping grass fields for picnics and games in the summer, and sweet little themed gardens, including a great space for children.
As my friend and I wandered around, we saw a herb garden, a perennial garden, native plants, rose gardens, and various streams, ponds and bridges. The children’s garden, called Potter Children’s Garden, has a great selection of interactive activities and things to look at, bridges to walk over, ponds to fall in peer into, and flowers to smell.
They have a few venues too, for weddings of conferences, and there were so many places where we stopped and thought ‘ooh wedding photos would be lovely here!’.
Even in Winter is was lovely, and we spent a few hours wandering around. If you haven’t been there, to go and have a wander around. Great for kids and adults a like, and a lovely morning out.

Have you been there?
