In need of a NaNoWriMo word tracker?

With National Novel Writing Month just around the corner, it’s time to grab yourself a NaNoWriMo word tracker! While I know that you can track your words on the NaNoWriMo website, and it’s beneficial for you to add your count each day to the site so can see your progress in graph form, if you’re like me then you like to have things physically written down somewhere.

During the past few years of doing NaNoWriMo, I’ve written my count down in a notebook, but I love being able to see an entire month spread out in calendar form. That’s where this printable comes in.

⚡ Update: I’ve also created a digital NaNoWriMo word tracker, which I have also added to this post. See the end of the post for the link.

On the printable, there’s every day in November, with the date, how many words you should have by then (called ‘goal’), a place to write in how many words you wrote that day, what your total word count after that is, and also how many coffees you had that day in order to actually get there. I’ve only put 4 coffees on each day because if you’re drinking that much coffee you should probably cut back. It’s for your own good.

I joke.

Mostly. Swap it out for water, or even tea.

As well as creating this printable tracker, I’ve also created a Digital version, too. This is on Google Sheets and you can Make a Copy to be able to populate it yourself and digitally keep track of your NaNoWriMo words.

Disclaimer: This post used to have a 2016 NaNoWriMo word tracker on it. In 2021, I updated it to have a 2021 version and a blank version. In 2023, I updated the tracker to just be blank, meaning you can download it any year you’d like.
