Just yesterday it was announced that the play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, would be released as a book. And the Potterheads of the world went wild.

This was just the most exciting news to wake up to. When J.K.Rowling announced there would be another Harry story, I (like 100% of the Harry Potter-loving world) shrieked with excitement and more likely than not injured themselves as they jumped for joy. But all was not well, because Harry Potter ‘8’ would be in play form, and while the concept of seeing a story in the Wizarding World unfold on stage would be the most magical thing … well, ever, those of us who weren’t going to be able to make it London for the (no doubt sold-out) shows, felt ever so slightly depleted and depressed. There would be no Harry Potter ‘8’ for us. Until now.

In case you missed this most exciting news, here’s the announcement from Pottermore:

Print and digital editions will publish simultaneously after the play’s world premiere this summer, and will comprise of the version of the play script at the time of the play’s preview performances.

Theatre previews allow the creative team the chance to rehearse and explore scenes further before a production’s official opening night. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens for previews several weeks before its official first performance on Saturday 30 July and the Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book will later be replaced by a Definitive Collector’s Edition.

Oh.my.magical.creatures. It’s like they heard the hundreds of thousands of Potterheads around the world, joining in one, lifting up a wail of depression that they would never see The Cursed Child. So they did something about it.

Now the question is, do I buy it as soon as it comes out, or do I wait a yet-undetermined amount of time until the Definitive Collector’s Edition hits the book stores? I think we all know that the answer to that question is: duh, Anjali. You get both.

On a scale of 1 to this-is-the-best-news-ever, how excited are you about this!?
