Subscription Box :: Nerd Block November 2015

Back in April I subscribed to this awesome box, Nerd Block. You may recall me talking about it, and saying how even though it was pretty much the bee’s knees, it was too expensive to get all the time. I mentioned I might come back to it again, if I knew what the topic of the box was. This past month I did, and it was Tis the Season. There were a few hints and comments online as to the kinds of things that would be in this box, including something from Firefly, Sherlock and Star Wars. Eep!

So I re-subscribed (and got a freebie box for doing so!), and I’m so glad I did get it for November, because the box was awesome! I grabbed the Classic box (there are bunch of different ones you can get), and all the items are just brilliant! Here’s what the November box had:

Back to the Nightmare T-Shirt

Each month you get a t-shirt, and this month was this neat one from ShirtPunch. I ordered the biggest t-shirt possible because I knew that I probably wouldn’t wear it, given my large collection of t-shirts I don’t wear, but I’ve already begun planning what I’m going to turn it into. Perhaps an altered top, or a skirt.

This month’s is a mash up of The Nightmare Before Christmas and Back to the Future, which seems like an odd combination to be, but I quite like the print, and how they’ve done it.

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Moose Shot Glass

Despite the fact that I haven’t seen this movie, I did know what it was from. How great is the moose shot glass? The little description on the card says ‘We’ve got the perfect vessel for that spiced eggnog this holiday season! You’ll be able to tip a glass to the fan favourite holiday film’. Ha. Love it. Must see this movie.

Exclusive Firefly Ornament

Eep! Ohmygosh I love this! It’s a Serenity ornament, and this one of the reasons I decided that this would be the month I signed up again. This is sitting on my shelf next to my Firefly Dvd/s and I love. So awesome.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Calender
Very cool Star Wars calender for the new year. I’m so excited for this movie! A bunch of friends and I are going to the midnight showing here in Auckland. It’s going to be awesome!

Billy Murray Print
This was a little random, and after some research I’ve discovered that it’s his character in A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III, which I haven’t seen. But that’s okay.

Exclusive Sherlock Titan Vinyl Figure

Ohmyword. Guys. This. This is my favourite thing in the box this month. I actually like the Pop Vinyl Figures more than the Titan ones, but this is just too great not to love. It looks so much like Benedict Cumberbatch it’s brilliant. He came with a little magnifying glass too (picture doesn’t really show it, sorry), and it’s just too wonderful for words. In my freebie box earlier, I got the Spike from Buffy figure, so now they hang out on the DVD shelf, with their respected DVDs.

So that was the Nerd Block Classic for November! Again, I’ve unsubscribed because shipping makes it quite expensive, but you can check out the website and see all the cool options. I see they’ve added (perhaps not recently though) a SciFi box! That’s more my thing I think, so if I get it again in the future, it’ll definitely be that one.
