Ready to frolic in amongst the flowers at the Wanaka Lavender Farm?
Even if you’re not the biggest fan of lavender, the Wanaka Lavender Farm has plenty to do and see that everyone can enjoy a visit. Just outside of the Otago (New Zealand) town of Wanaka, the lavender (and honey!) farm is home to over 20 acres of gardens, farm animals, beehives and of course, lavender.
Wanaka Lavender Farm is just a few minutes from Wanaka, where you can experience 20 acres of beautiful lavender fields, farm animals & display gardens.
Enjoy a walk through the flowers, meet our friendly farm animals, play a garden game, unwind over a cup of herbal tea & indulge in our lavender ice-creams.

Farm Experience
If you’re a bit of a city slicker, then taking your family to the farm will get them up close and personal with the farm animals. Goats, sheep, chickens, cows, pigs and alpaca are all ‘just there’ when you wander around the farmyard.
The Gardens
When you first grab your ticket in the shop and make your way outside to start exploring, you’re hit with only the stunning scent of lavender, but also a stunning array of other flowers and plants. Wander through the colour-themed flower beds, vegetable gardens and herb boxes (in the shape of hexagons), over to the beehives.

Lakes Honey
Speaking of bees, Lakes Honey is amazing, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t even love honey. It’s okay, but I’d choose some other spread over it, usually.
Lakes Honey was created to show appreciation to one of New Zealand’s most delicious resources, honey.
Taste the flavours of our native flowers, alpine pastures and floral fields.
With thanks to the flowers and the bees we can enjoy some of the finest honey on offer.
But the honest tasting in the shop is brilliant, and you can really taste the flavours from the lavender and manuka.
The lavender
I never knew there were so many different varieties of lavender until I went to the Wanaka Lavender Farm. Seriously. Everywhere you turn there’s another bed of slightly taller, slightly darker, slightly purple-r, slightly stronger-smelling lavender. To pick a favourite would be like picking a favourite book or a favourite child. Can’t be done. There’s a photo-op everyone-posts-the-same-photo-on-Instagram door in the middle of one section, which of course we wanted to take photos at. But it was worth it. So pretty!
If you’re in the Wanaka area then I recommend a trip to the farm. It was a lovely way to spend an hour or so, and it’s a fun trip for the whole family.
