I love Ikea

Why is it not in NZ?

How I love it so.

And that, class, was my haiku about Ikea.

And how I love it. And why isn’t it in New Zealand yet?

The annoyance is real. When we realised we were departing England’s shores and returning home to Ikea-less NZ, my mum and I went to the closest shop (happened to be Bristol), and stocked up. And when I say ‘stocked up’, I mean it. We had a shipping container to put all our household things in, but it was a lot bigger than we thought it was going to be. Therefore, to get our moneys worth, we had to at least fill it 3/4 full.

So to Ikea we went. And Ikea we bought. Like the whole store. Okay, not really, but we did spend a lot of money and got a lot of things that are essentials (bookshelves, mostly) in life. Now that we’re back in NZ, we have no Ikea. There’s a small shop in Auckland (or perhaps more than one?) that sells things from Ikea, but there’s no where near the range that the actual stores have. Every time a new building goes up around our suburbs, I silently loudly hope that it’s going to be an Ikea. And yet …

So, with that in mind, here are some of the things that Ikea currently has in their catalogue that I love and yet cannot buy. Maybe you can go out to your nearest Ikea and buy them on my behalf? And then look after them for me. Thanks. You’re a top friend.

Can I just say, that bookshelf? The ultimate storage unit. I want need it in my life.
