There are so many apps I couldn’t live without.
I mean I could, technically, but I wouldn’t want to.
I have a Samsung J5, and it’s great, I really enjoy it as a phone. The only downside is that I only have about 8GB storage. I bought an extra sim card for storage, but only some apps will move across to it. Because of that, I’m constantly having to reevaluate which apps on my phone I actually need, and which ones I could say adios to. It’s a challenge. But it also means I don’t have hundreds of redundant apps cluttering up my phone that I haven’t actually used in months and months. Every single app on my phone I use, but there are 10 that I couldn’t go a day without.
Communication Apps
Facebook (and therefore, also Messenger)
Oh Facebook. I feel like this is the app/website of the century. And it will continue to be. I love Facebook, and it’s definitely one that I use everyday. I love that I can keep up with what my friends are doing overseas, and the fact that you can share things with each. Obviously I love it for my blog too, and you can see what I get up to over there if you like.
I’ve included Messenger in this too, and while I know that is actually a separate app now, it’s still Facebook. A lot of people contact me through Messenger, so it’s certainly an every-day use kind of app.
Outlook
I use the Outlook app the most on my phone. I love it because it’s not only my emails, but also my calendar, which I have colour coded for various things like events, personal, work, TV shows (true story), and little reminders.
Honourable mentions: Snapchat, Twitter
Photography Apps
I bought my iPod touch back in the day (2013) just so I could have Instagram. That’s how much I love it. With the new Stories feature, it’s even more fun, and I love using it now to show behind the scenes ‘footage’ of what’s happening with my life, but more so what’s happening behind the scenes on the blog.
A Color Story
Created by the lovely people at A Beautiful Mess, A Color Story is actually my favourite photography app now. Occasionally I’ll use Afterlight too, but this one is my go to. All my photos on Instagram (or 90% at least) are edited with A Color Story. Love it.

Book Apps
Good Reads
As you guys will already know, Good Reads is one of my favourite websites ever. And the app is no different. I use it not only to record what book I’m currently reading and updating that process, but also to keep track of what I’ve bought, which books I own, which ones I want to read. If I’m in a book store and I find books that look good, I’ll scan them in with Good Reads app, to my To Be Read list so I can remember. So handy. You can check out what books I’ve been reading here.
Still not convinced? Here are 6 reasons you should be using Good Reads.
Book Catalogue
On a similar line to Good Reads, Book Catalogue is exactly what it sounds like: a catalogue of all your books. You can sync this app to your Good Reads, so I use it for keeping track of the books I own. I means if I’m out and about, but have no data, I can quickly look up on Book Catalogue if I have a book already, and which version, or publisher I have it under.
Idea Apps
Oh Pinterest. How I love thee. Pinterest is one of those apps that I use to fill in time, as well as trying to figure out what to cook for dinner. It’s all encompassing, and it literally has everything you could ask or hope for. I love it for Blogging things too, and the majority of my posts are pinable (if you pin the header image in this post, for example, it will give you a Pinable image that is optimal size for Pinterest – handy, eh?).
Memo
I know that this isn’t an app you download, but I love the Memo app that was just on my phone. I use it everyday for things like keeping track of new Instagram followers, for jotting down shopping lists, for typing up a a cool quote I’ve found throughout the day, for recording numbers, or anything. And I use it every day.
Honourable mentions: Buffer
Entertainment Apps
Ultimate Guitar Tabs
You may not know that I play a couple of instruments. I started playing the piano when I was 8, and I taught myself guitar a couple of years ago. I also occasionally play the ukulele, but not so much any more. But for all these instruments, I head to Ultimate Guitar Tabs website if I’m on my computer, or I use my app, because it’s amazing. You can favourite songs, change the key, view them in tab form or just the chords. I use this every couple of days, sometimes every day.
IMDB
Seriously, this app is amazing. I watch quite a few different TV shows, and it’s a great way to quickly remind myself which episode I’m up to. I love it for occasions when someone says ‘who was that guy? You know that one in that movie?’ and I’ll just pull out my phone and IMDB-it. Boom. So handy.
Honourable mentions: Spotify, YouTube, Duolingo, Tumblr
As I said, I would definitely be able to live without these apps, but in a world of technology, I would’nt want to live without them. They’re all so handy, and I use the majority of them every single day. These are the apps that I won’t delete if I need to make room for something else in my too-full phone.
What are some of the apps you use every day?
