Did you hear? Ancient Greece Aesthetic is hot right now.
I like to think my friend Lauren called this trend about 2 years ago, when she suddenly started incorporating Ancient Greece Aesthetic into an ongoing event series we run together. Was she just picking something she loved to spruce up the event? Or was she seeing the future? I’ll let you decide.
But calling-trends-before-they’re-trends aside, Ancient Greece Aesthetic is taking the world by storm and if you love the ancient vibes mixed with modern decor, then this is the year for you! If you do a quick Google search, you’ll be greeted with all sorts of ancient Greek and Romanesque decor, products, jewellery, and fashion as the world jumps on the Hellenistic trend.
I love how this has become the in-thing recently. I did Classic Studies in high school and University, and absolutely loved every second of it. My friend and I even managed to get to Athens, Greece, when I live in England, and it was such an incredible experience. We stood in the places we’d seen in our textbooks and had to pinch ourselves that we were actually there, so far from little ol’ (and very ‘new’ New Zealand).
In this blog post, we’re going to take a look at 10 different ways you can incorporate this Ancient Greece Aesthetic into your home. Some of the ideas are subtle, low-key hints to the ancient civilisations … and others are so strikingly obvious and bold that you might only need 1 or 2 items in your home. You can use your judgement.
10 ways to incorporate Ancient Greece Aesthetic into your modern life
- Add a Greek bust to your entryway
- Done yourself with elaborate Ancient Greek jewellery
- Rock the alternate neon statues
- Re-wallpaper with Aphrodite aesthetic wallpaper
- Freshen up your bookshelves with new ancient miniatures
- Frame some Greek statue art
- Set up some Corinthian columns
- Get yourself some wreath headbands
- One word: toga
- Greek vases and bowls

Add a Greek bust to your entryway
You may not be for that subtle Greek aesthetic and want to go all out. This is the decor for you! A quick google will bring up all sorts of variations of the classic greek bust, some a few inches high, all the way to life-size busts and statues (like the one in the middle here). If you opt for a smaller one, mount it on a plinth or pop it on a foyer table.

Done yourself with elaborate Ancient Greek jewelry
Make a statement with big and bold necklaces. There are so many stunning designs out there that if this is your kind of vibe then you 👏🏻have👏🏻got👏🏻choices.
Back in Ancient Greece, necklaces were big, elaborate, and very golden. Some used more delicate shapes and elements, while others were fitted with geometric-like shapes. Precious stones were often encased in the jewelry, as well, so just in case you thought the golden necklaces were extreme enough, throw in a shiny rock or 10 and you’ve got yourself a statement piece.

Rock the alternative painted statues
This was one of the things that Lauren added to the events that we hosted. Small, unintrusive, plain, mini Greek statues. But with a twist. The painted vibe gives it a little bit of something-something and allows you to bring in other colour palettes to fit your themes and decor.
Many Greek busts come plain – a simple white – but with a little spray paint and some painter’s tape, you can easily section off parts of the miniature and create an effect as you see here. Or go nuts and paint the whole thing. Here are a few examples, with a couple that you can buy pre-painted.

Re-wallpaper with Aphrodite aesthetic wallpaper
While no room is currently wallpapered in my house, I love a good wallpaper! There are so many incredible Aphrodite aesthetic wallpapers out there, and you don’t need to stop there! Check out these beautiful Greek and Roman wallpapers and choose a room to redo!
Whether you go for a big feature wall in the main room, or you opt for a more subtle look in the bathroom, there are so many options!

Freshen up your bookshelves with new ancient miniatures
With those painted minis, we talked about before! Or some of these other ancient miniatures, like the Colleseum or the Parthenon. There are some beautiful ancient looking decor pieces that you could put into your bookshelves, and give them an extra interest boost.
Another way to add Ancient aesthetics to your shelves is by checking out bookends that fit the vibe, or bookish insets that sit alongside your books. Much like this stunning mini by Andreas Rousounlis.
Bonus idea: The other idea I love is taking the shelves out of your bookshelf (if you can) and placing paper or wallpaper (as above) onto the back of the bookshelves.

Set up some Corinthian columns
Either literally on your house (or perhaps you already have a home with columns!), or create some make-shift columns inside your home. You could do this by adding miniatures/sculptures around your house, or with prints, photographs and paintings. Or check out this wallpaper with Corinthian columns on it!
Don’t want to go that hard-core? I mean, I get it. Why not incorporate Corinthian columns in other ways? This Pin set is super cute, or pop a candle stick on the sideboard. Or really commit to that jewellery theme from earlier and get some column earrings!
Note: That’s a paper craft item he’s sitting on. Please don’t actually sit on it.

Get yourself some wreath headbands
These are so beautiful! Really elegant for weddings, parties, or you know, your average Tuesday.
Step out into the modern world with Ancient Greece-inspired headwear! Some of the headpieces from Ancient times might be a little over the top for the 2020s, but a simple leaf wreath goes down quite nicely.

One word: toga
You can keep your sheets in the linen cupboard for this one though. Fashion in Ancient Greece and Italy was pertty simple, long flowing togas and materials, sometimes adorned with more elaborate features, but on the whole pretty low-key. While many of the images you might see of what fashion looked like back then depict white garments, it’s likely that the Greeks wore many colours.
Some of these styles above are perfect for summer days, light and flowy, so if you enjoy the look, then you’ve got options!

Greek vases and bowls
If you ever did Classical Studies in high school like I did, then you probably spent a fair amount of time studying Greek vases and bowls. The Greeks especially use vases and bowls to tell stories of the gods, of playwrights and more. They’re one of the more common things you think of when you think of Ancient Greece.
For your home, pop a vase or two on a bookshelf, hall table or side cabinet; opt for the shape of the vase over the pattern, or go all out and find a replica of a famous vase. Pop some large feathers in the vase to add an extra feature. (I know I’ve mentioned wallpaper a lot in this post, but check out this Greek Vases wallpaper! And these adorable Greek vase stickers!)
