4 Ways for Bloggers to Engage their Readers

Sometimes it’s hard as bloggers to engage our readers.

If you’re anything like me and want to build a successful blog, I’m learning it’s super important to interact with your audience and connect with them on a more personal level. People come to my blog, to your blog, because they want information, but the main reason that they will become regular followers is that they like my/your personality. It’s the bloggers that interact with their readers that are the most successful, so we need to make it a priority.

With that in mind, here are are some of the ways you can make that happen.

Post Regular Content

Before you do anything else, it’s important that you have a regular posting schedule in place. Your readers will only start to build a connection with you if you give them regular content to read. If they keep coming back and there is nothing new on there, they will soon stop visiting. As well as posting regularly, it’s a good idea to post at the same time, so people know when to expect new content. The best thing to do is schedule your posts and write them ahead of time so there is always a constant stream of content for your readers.

Reply To Comments

This is one of the easiest ways that you can engage with people, but a lot of bloggers fail to keep up with it. If people are taking the time to comment on your posts, you should always respond to them, even if it is just to say thank you. If people have direct questions, you should try to answer them as best you can. Giving people more information and helping them out will build that relationship with your readers, and it only takes you a few minutes.

Give An Address

One of the things I see many bloggers doing is sharing an address to which readers can send mail to. While I haven’t ever done this myself, it’s something that I think would be great to set up in the future. Some of your readers may want to send you things in the post, and hopefully, you will work with companies on sponsored posts and they will want to send you products. The publishing companies I currently work with send books to my home address but for anyone else (readers or other companies) I would be more comfortable using a virtual mailbox subscription or a PO Box instead. You can have any letters or parcels sent there and then you will get digital copies sent to you, and you can have things forwarded on if needs be. It’s much safer, and you still give your readers an address where they can send things.

Be Active On Social Media

The easiest way to engage with people online is through social media, so you need to make sure that you are active. It’s a good way to promote your posts, and you can easily interact with your readers on there. When you post, you should make an effort to invite engagement by asking questions or using polls. That way, you will get more people responding to your posts and you can start a conversation.

When people start following a blog, they do it because they like the personality of the blogger, so it’s vital that you make an effort to engage with your readers.

What are some ways you engage with your readers?  Are there things you could work on?
