7 fun things to do this weekend

Looking for some fun things to do this weekend?

With a pandemic sweeping the planet, planning to do things is nigh on impossible. But that’s okay! There are still plenty of ways we can have fun without planning far in advance. Doing fun things to do this weekend (pandemic or not!) at the drop of a hat can either go wonderfully or hilarious wrong (there’s no in-between, I’m sure!).

Some of my best adventures have been super spontaneous, basically zero planning. And sometimes those have been the absolute worst day! It completely depends on how you look at it. In this post, we’re going to take a look at just 7 fun things to do this weekend that doesn’t involve a lot of planning, so you get those ideas flowing!

Blanket fort

Turn your entire house into a blanket fort, if you want. Why not? If you have kids, this is especially awesome because they will talk about this blanket fort – that will put all other blanket forts to shame, I might add – for years and years to come. If you don’t have kids, do it anyway. Everyone loves a blanket fort.

Picnic

Picnics are easy. Grab everything that looks edible from your fridge and put it in a basket. Or a series of bags if you don’t have a basket. Grab a blanket and head to the park. Easy, but so much fun. Especially if it’s anything like our picnics, which inevitably get rained out. Such fun!

Point and go

Grab a map of your city/area. Close your eyes, spin around a few times and place your finger on the map. Where did it end up? If it ended up in the middle of a suburb street, what’s the closest park to it? Or roadside attraction? Maybe there’s a collection of shops? Just go there and see what happens. Make sure you take pictures.  Probably blog about it too.

Silent dance party

All you need is your phone and your dance moves. Plug them into your head and get dancing! Bonus points if you’re all listening to different music but can sync up your dance moves. In fact, the more people the better, but you can have a dance party by yourself if you want.

Have a photoshoot

Grab your friends and your favourite outfits and get snapping! This is a great way to get lots of photos for ‘gram, but it also boosts your confidence, and is a heck of a lot of fun! Better yet, make it themed and do some group shots! They’ll be hilarious to look back on and there might even be some that you can print and hang in your home.

Sandcastle building competition

Head to the beach, if you live near one, and put your design and engineering skills to the test. Make it a competition between you and your friends. Who can build the highest castle? The most intricate? The most decorated? The one that looks the most like a dragon? The one that surrounds the most sleeping people. Maybe the other people on the beach will join in!

If you don’t have a beach nearby, make the best castle out of household items. Books make excellent towers.

Make 1,000 paper cranes

Because if she can do it, you can do it. All you need is paper and a tendency not to get bored after the first 5 minutes. Good luck.

Which one of these fun things to do this weekend will you try?
