Shopping in another country is always fantastic.

They often have a lot of different things than your home country, more stores to chose from, and at completely different prices. Coming from New Zealand, shopping in America is quite a bit cheaper on a lot of things. Clothes are generally a similar price, but things like make-up and cosmetics, books and gifts are considerably less dear.

As I headed to North America last month, I was prepared to do some serious shopping. I probably didn’t go as nuts as I could have done, but I’m super excited about the things that I ended up buying.

Quite a few things I ended up buying as gifts for family and friends, but there were some things that I bought for me. Treat Yo Self. As you can see, most are miscellaneous goods, with a few clothing pieces thrown in for good luck.

Here’s a quick run down:

  • Harry Potter socks
  • Christmas gnome
  • The Cartoon Introduction to Philosophy
  • The Night Circus
  • Magnetic bookmarks
  • Llama sticky-notes
  • Powell’s Tote bag
  • Hand-made yellow messenger bag from the market
  • 2018 diary
  • Painting of Seattle
  • Bring Your Own Book – game
  • Portland postcard
  • Powell’s Mug
  • Ginny Weasley Funko Pop Vinyl
  • First Nations totem pole from Canada
  • Victorian wooden house
  • Make up
  • Cute pieces of crockery for the new items in the Etsy shop
  • Blue embroidered scarf
  • Sparkly black skirt
  • Floaty floral kimono top thing
  • Pretty blue lace vest
  • Blue floppy trousers
  • Black and white dress
  • Peanut butter M&Ms

When I write it down like this, it’s actually quite a lot! Pretty proud of myself that I only bought 2 books, especially seeing as I went to Powell’s Books not once but twice during my time in Oregon.

Have you been on any shopping sprees recently? What did you buy?Β
