Eight Books To Add To Your To-Be-Read Pile On Goodreads

Another week, another book haul.

But look at all the beautiful books on that stack! I’m also very happy to say that I only bought three of! I’m not on a book buying ban, but I am trying not to buy every book that jumps out at me (because then I’d be broke and apparently you need money to live, or some garbage like that). But only two of those three were full price, and even then they kind of weren’t because Book Depository does such epic prices. The other I got in a sale. But we’ll get to that.

Invisibly Breathing, by Eileen Merriman

I received this book from Penguin Books NZ in the amazing Turning Pages box that they sent Sophie and I a few weeks back. It was actually very apt timing, as I was in need of a book to pick up and I couldn’t help but jump straight into this one, rather than tackle the leaning tower of TBR books on my floor. The Penguin 2019 Teen Superproof, by Penguin Books NZ

Also in that box was this really cool Superproof, which turned out to be a collection of chapters from 10 upcoming titles to be released into the world by Penguin NZ. I’ve already read it, and you guys, there are some good-sounding books hitting the shelves in the next few months!

Girl, Wash Your Face, by Rachel Hollis

I don’t read non-fiction. Not because I don’t think it’s good or because it doesn’t interest me, but mostly because there sin’t likely to be dragons. Or magicians. Or trolls under bridges. Did I mention there’s probably no dragons? I don’t tend to read non-fiction because I like fiction too much to both picking up anything other than fiction. I really struggle with non-fiction, and I’d much rather watch a TED Talk.

However! This has to be one of the greatest books I’ve ever read, full stop. Rachel (as many of you will recognise from The Chic Site) has some important stuff to say, ladies (for she is talking to the gals in the room), and it is epic. Read this book. The Devil’s Thief, by Lisa Maxwell

If you hark back to last year, I wrote a review of the first in this series, The Last Magician, and raved about how much I enjoyed it. I couldn’t help but buy the second, and I’m really looking forward to picking this up, hopefully soon!

The Crown’s Fate, by Evelyn Skye

This was the book I scored for cheap in a sale bin. I haven’t actually read the first in this series, The Crown’s Game, but I have it (you can find it in this book haul here) and I’ve heard good things about it. If you’ve read this series, let me know what you thought in the comments!

King of Scars, by Leigh Bardugo

I’ve had this sitting on my floor now for about two weeks and I just need to read it! I can’t wait to pick it up and dive back into the Grishaverse I love so much. In preparation for Bardugo’s latest release, I tried to re-read all the other books (Shadow and Bone series and the Six of Crows duology), but I didn’t quite get there. I managed Shadow and Bone, and Siege and Storm, but that’s it. Thank you to Hachette NZ for this review copy!

Four Dead Queens, by Astrid Schotle

When you have authors commenting on your Instagram posts you know you’ve done well. I haven’t read this one yet, but by golly I’m exciting about it! It even has a map, you guys!
