Book Review :: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated

Jim Kay did a fantastic job at Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition

I’m sure by now you’ve seen this stunningly beautiful book – Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition.

It’s definitely one of my most favourite books now, and it was as soon as I got it for my birthday back in January. What I love about this is that, yes, it’s an incredibly gorgeous book, but guys, there will be another one next year. And the year after. I’ve told my parents that this is a fabulous thing, because they now know what to get me for the next 6 years (assuming they continue with the illustrated editions – but why wouldn’t they?).

People ask me when they see it sitting on my Harry Potter shelf if it’s a condensed version of the book, and I can tell them with certainty and excitement that no, it’s the entire book.

Every single page has an amazing illustration on it, and some pages are only illustrations. Jim Kay, the artist, has done a beautiful job, and I know that I couldn’t possibly use more adjectives about one book but look at it. Just …  just look at it.

My only slight concern, however, is what will happen when they get to some of the larger books, The Order of the Phoenix especially? I guess we have several years to wait and see!

I can’t wait to see what the next one will be like, and what Jim Kay will draw next. But for now, I am very content with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Beautiful. Amazing. Stunning. Awesome. Gorgeous. Love it.
