Last year I challenged myself to read 45 books during the course of the year, with Good Reads. I love that site. There probably isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t go on it. Whether that be to update what page up I’m to on my current book, search an author or book, look for a quote, or simply see how my Good Reads buddies are getting on, and what they’re reading. I have the app on my phone, and also on my Kindle, so it’s literally always with me.
While I completed my challenge last year with time to spare, and reading almost 10 books more than I challenge myself to read (heck yes 53!), the obvious thing to do would be to pump up this year’s challenge. Each year I tend to bump up the number from the previous year, and it’s normally fine. This year, however, my goal is 48. I know that that’s a random number and why not go to 50, but there’s a bunch of books on my shelves that I really want to read that are quite large. Last year the majority of the books I read were less than 300 pages. The ones I want to read this year are much larger. So I still wanted to up my number, but kept in mind the big book thought. 48 it is!
If you check out Blogger’s Bookshelf, there will be an update soon about the Challenge, and also the 5 books we vow to read this year. You can check out the books we vowed to read in 2014 here, and find out if we actually read them or not here.
