Welcome to the BoMoSh!
The BoMoSh is a post for Books, Movies and Shows. I’ll be sharing what I’ve read and seen in the last month, and I always welcome suggestions for books, shows and movies. Leave me a comment if you think there’s something that I might enjoy.
Books | 4
- Let it Snow, by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle
- Serpent & Dove, by Shelby Mahurin
- One of Us Is Next, by Karen M. McManus
- Queen of Nothing, by Holly Black
I barely read anything this month! I realise that’s four books, but it took me about 3 weeks to read Serpent & Dove. It wasn’t that I didn’t like it – in fact I loved the book! – it was simply the fact that it was Christmas and I was mega busy and by the time I got home in the evenings I was so tired I collapsed into bed and that was that. There were several periods of days-on-end where I didn’t read. I am here for the summer holidays and reading shall happen!
Movies | 5
- Let It Snow (Netflix)
- A Knight Before Christmas (Netflix)
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
- Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
So I did a little better with movies this month. If you’re wondering if I watched The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in preparation for The Rise of Skywalker you’d be 100% correct. We had a mini marathon on a Saturday night before heading to Episode 9 on the Sunday. I have thoughts, and quite a few gripes with the film, but overall I enjoyed it.
After finishing Let It Snow the book, I watched the movie so Sophie and I could talk about it our final podcast episode of the year, Snowy Stories. It was a fine movie, but only if you hadn’t read the book, which, of course, we had. Check out the episode if you’re interested in our exact thoughts on the matter.
Shows
I also got a little Christmassy and watched a show on Netflix called Happy Merry Whatever. It was okay. Nothing special, but enjoyable enough to put on at the end of a long day. I also continued watching the Mandalorian after falling a little behind.
I’m very excited about Doctor Who Season 12 which starts in the first week of January.
What have you read and watched this past month?
