Welcome to the BoMoSh!
The BoMoSh stands for Books, Movies and Shows, and that’s exactly what we talk about on these monthly posts. I share what I’ve read and seen in the last month, and I always welcome suggestions for books, shows and movies. Leave me a comment if you think there’s something that I might enjoy.
Books | 4.5
- An Absolutely Remarkable Thing, by Hank Green
- Daughter of the Siren Queen, by Tricia Levenseller
- What If It’s Us, by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera
- A Bad Beginning, by Lemony Snicket (audio)
- Muse of Nightmares, by Laini Taylor
I loved Hank Green’s book and Becky Alerbertalil and Adam Silvera’s book, and really enjoyed the last book in the Daughter of the Pirate King duology. Then I actually had started re-reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer via audiobook, but then I had forgotten about it and so the library return was due and it suddenly disappeared. So then I borrow A Bad Beginning, starting my re-read of A Series of Unfortunate Events. Seriously love those books. Muse of Nightmares I haven’t actually finished yet, however is proving, so far, to be just as epic as Strange the Dreamer.
Movies | 2
- 28 Days
- The Mountain Between Us
So 28 Days is a Sandra Bullock movie that my friend and I watched on Netflix. It was under the comedy section so we figured ‘Sandra Bullock + Comedy’ is a pretty safe bet (and Viggo Mortensen). However, it wasn’t that great. It was okay, but I wouldn’t bother watching it again, neither would I class it as a comedy. Just not that funny.
The Mountain Between Us was also average, and while my biggest fear was Kate Winslet and Idris Elba eating the dog (you’ll get it if you’ve seen it), thankfully that didn’t occur. Don’t worry, that’s not really a spoiler. Two average as movies over the course of a weekend. Eh. This is why TV is better – if you don’t like it, you don’t really feel any obligation to keep watching after the pilot. A movie is different.
Shows
I’ve been watching Riverdale and The Good Place weekly, and managed to finish Atypical Season 2 which is on Netflix. I realised this month that I hadn’t actually finished watching Orphan Black, and still had season 5 to go, so I’ve started that but not yet finished.
Next Month…
Books – I have A Sorrow Fierce and Falling sitting next to my bed right now, the third in Jessica Cluess‘ series; I’m really looking forward to reading this one. I’m also planning on picking up Dry by Neal Shusterman, Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan, and Cassandra Clare’s next The Dark Artifices books, Queen of Air and Darkness.
Movies – With December hitting, I’m hoping to watch some Christmas movies, although if this month was anything to by then that will be nothing short of a miracle (on 34th street? Christmas movie reference anyone?).
Shows – I’m not sure what shows are coming out this month, but I keep thinking I should probably finish watching Merlin (season 4 and 5 to go), before it disappears off Netflix (which it did once before). The Bodyguard is one of the Netflix shows I want to check out – I’ve heard only great things about it so that’s on the list.
Drop me a comment if you have any suggestions for books, movies or shows.
What have you read and watched this month?
