book haul 58 this splendid shambles

‘So many books, so little time’ is the unofficial catchphrase of Rants and Reviews. And it’s pretty spot on.

This week I’m just adding to the ‘so many books’ part of the sentence with yet another book haul. These ones I picked up the Best Weekend Of the Year, aka the book fair. I only paid $2 or $3 for each of these, so on a scale of losing to wining, I’m doing pretty well.

A couple of these titles I’ve read before, while the others were literally too perfect and pretty to pass up. Ridiculous I know.

fate of the tearling invasion of the tearling

The Fate of the Tearling, and The Invasion of the Tearling, by Erika Johansen

I’ve read both of these books – you may recall the reviews – and really enjoyed them. While I don’t actually have the first in the series, when you’re collecting things from book sales and opshops (second hand stores), you can’t really be too picky. I’ll see Queen of the Tearling around for cheap eventually, I know I will, so I’ll just pick it up then. They’re more for future re-reading purposes than reading them now reasons anyway.

the book of life the demon king

The Book of Life, by Deborah Harkness

If you’ve been following along on Rants and Reviews, then you’ll know I’ve read the first in this series by Deborah Harkness, but have never gotten around to reading the second and the third. I have books one and two already, so finding this the third was a real treat.

The Demon King, by Cinda Williams Chima

I haven’t actually read anything by Cinda Williams Chima, although I do have books 1-3 in her The Heir Chronicles. Her books sound like my kinda of books, so I’m really hoping I’ll get to pick one or two up this coming year!

Trudi Canavan The Traitor Spy Trilogy

The Ambassador’s Mission, The Rogue, and The Traitor Queen, by Trudi Canavan

To be completely honest with you guys (as I always strive to be), I picked these up purely because the cover were so pleasing, and because I managed to find all three in this, The Traitor Spy Trilogy, in the book sale. How often does that even happen?! While that one cover is different, the spines are pretty much the same, so they look good on the shelf (priorities). I actually went ahead and bought the trilogy that comes prior to this one, The Black Magician Trilogy, on Book Depository after I bought these, barbecue I thought I should read those first. Correct me if you’ve read them and I’m wrong.

(Also I keep wanting to call her Trudi Caravan. That’s wrong.)

So there we have it! It’s a wrap for book haul number 58! Have you read any of the books in this list?
