Book Haul #6 - This Splendid Shambles

I feel like I’m buying a lot of books recently. I didn’t think I would be after I got back from England, considering they’re so much more expensive here…but I’ve managed to have several book hauls already, and have 2 more after this to share with you guys. I think what it is is that in England I would buy new books, and books that had just come out. And they were really cheap compared with here. But here I’ve been buying books from the bargain, sale and clearance bins a lot, and also from the opshops. Because they then become super cheap, I’ve bought a lot. I haven’t bought a newly released book all year though, and I don’t think I will because they can get up to $30 NZD, and that’s just ridiculous. The books in this haul are 4 books that I managed to score in a sale bin. It was buy one get one free, and the most expensive book was The Bone Season, at $10. I actually also bought 2 more, but I had already leant them to a friend when I took these pictures.

Banished, by Liza De Jager
I hadn’t heard of this book, but after reading the back I popped it into my ever-filling basket. I hadn’t heard of the author before either, so I will let you know when I’ve read it.

Allegiance, by Cayla Kiluver
Another one I hadn’t heard of, but this was a bit infuriating because it was only when I got home that I realised this is actually the second in a series. *rolls eyes*. Ah well. It can sit on my shelf until I find the first one at the library or in another sale bin.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone, by Laini Taylor
I’ve actually already read this book, and I loved it. You can find my review from last year here at Blogger’s Bookshelf. Before I left England, I bought the second in this series, Days of Blood and Starlight, and while I still haven’t read that one, it’s sitting nicely on my shelf. I didn’t have the first one though (don’t ask me why I didn’t buy it at the same time), so when I saw this one in the sale bin, I grabbed it straight away.

The Bone Season, by Samantha Shannon
I’ve seen this book on Good Reads multiple times and seen some great reviews. It sounds like a great book, so I was very excited to find it in the sale bin. This one was $10, but it meant that I got Daughter of Smoke and Bone for free…so in my mind they were both $5…and that’s pretty darn awesome!

I have, ahem, a few more book hauls coming your way in the coming weeks. I keep having to rearrange my book shelves to accommodate these new books, but that’s just the price you pay!
