I’m trying to remember what my first vampire book was. I want to say it was Twilight, probably like many of us, but I definitely read books about vampires earlier than that. Or rather, they were books that had vampires in them, even if they weren’t the main feature of the book.

But since then, I’ve definitely read many a vampire book, and I especially love sinking my teeth into (ha!) a paranormal, vampirey book near Halloween. October is for spooky reading, for sure.

While vampire books have been around for hundreds of years (here’s looking at you, Dracula), there was a real resurgence in the late 2000s – 2010s and then it went quiet again for a while, and then I feel like in the last few years at the publication of this blog post, they’ve had a bit of a comeback.

I might be wrong, but I feel like I’m seeing more books about vampires recently than maybe 10 years ago.

So! If you’ve been looking for a vampy read, I’ve rounded up some of the books about vampires that I’ve read, and some that I haven’t. They’re a mix of fun vampire romance, more serious vampire fiction, some quirky, some intense, some newer, some classics. And I’d love to know if you’ve read any of these or plan to pick them up!

This was such a fun book! I was given it via NetGalley and had a great time reading this office vampire romance. Very silly, light-hearted, but a lot of fun.

A more recent release, I really enjoyed the combination of vampires and Roman-esque gladiator fighting and setting. I don’t think I actually realised it was a vampire book when I picked it up, so I was surprised. But pleasantly so. If you’re a fantasy girlie and a classic girlie like me, this is the book for you!

I’ll read anything VE Schwab writes. She’s definitely one of my favourite authors, and even when she writes something I wouldn’t usually pick up – historical fiction with fantasy – I still loved it. This is a bit different to the other books on this list, but still very worthy of being on this list of vampire books.

The Revenant Games are this cool combo of fantasy and game. Not quite Hunger Games, but still, there’s a game involved. The characters have to be sneaky and creative and make moves against both other humans and the vampires and witches.

I listened to this one via audio a few years back now, and I think I listened to maybe two or three in this series. It’s quite a well-known series, and I enjoyed how it was set in an academy.

I absolutely thought I had a review up for this book, but it turns out I haven’t actually written one ha. Buuuut this was another fun vampire romance, similar vibes to Fangs with Benefits, but also it’s giving The Flat Share vibes, too.
