10 Books to ReRead with Goodreads

With the announcement last month from Goodreads that re-reading function is now available, I’ve been thinking about what books I really want to re-read. I’ve mentioned before, but I don’t re-read many books anymore. I used to re-read Harry Potter every year, so that’s been read countless times, but I haven’t re-reading any else in a long while. I suspect it’s mostly due to the fact that any re-reads would never count towards my Goodreads reading challenge for the year. Which is a silly excuse, I know, but there we have it.

But now? Now all books count, and I’m excited about that. So this year I hope to re-read a book or two. I thought today I’d share with you some of the books I’ve read over the past few years hat I would like to re-read.

1| Fangirl, by Rainbow Rowell

I really loved this story. I love how much of a … fangirl… Cath is, and how wonderful the story and the characters are in this book. Read my review here. 

2 | Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell

The novel that came out of Fangirl. I loved this book. It was such a fun story line, and had some great characters in it. Rowell is definitely a favourite author of mine, and I’d love to re-read Carry On. Read my review here.

3 | Eragon, by Christopher Paolini

It was this book that actually made me want to write stories. I’ve spoken about it before, but knowing that Paolini was only 15 when he wrote Eragon (and I was about 15 when I read it for the first time) made me realise you don’t have to be older to write. It was like this ‘ah ha’ kind of moment. But that aside, I really do love this book. I mean, dragons. Come on. But I have to tell you a secret. I haven’t actually read the last in this series yet. Each year another book came out I’d have to reread the entire series to remind myself what was happening, but I never quite got to book number 4.

4 | Under the Never Sky, by Veronica Rossi 

I read entire series in a little over 2 days back in 2013 when I was house sitting a friend’s place (and cat) in England. I really enjoyed it, but it has been a long time since I picked it up. I’d love to reread it and remember why I liked it so much. Read my review here. 

5 | Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Colfer

Oh man. These books. I used to love these books so much but I haven’t read them in years and years. I would love to just start back at the beginning and read right through. They’re not big, and they’re so easy to read, I suspect it wouldn’t take long to read the entire series again.

6 | Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling

I always feel silly adding ‘by J.K. Rowling’ after ‘Harry Potter’. As if the world didn’t know. I used to reread Harry Potter every time a new book was coming out, and then nearly every year when they were all out. But I haven’t reread them in ages and I really need to jump back in there.

7 | Carnival of Souls, by Melissa Marr

This book doesn’t get enough credit. Nobody has ever heard of it when I tell them about it, and the Goodreads ratings have it at only 3.7. But I really enjoyed this book and would to give it another read. You can read my review here. 

8 | Unwind, by Neil Shusterman

Back in 2012 I picked this book up from the library in England. And I really enjoyed it – 4 stars. But for some reason I never picked up books 2 and 3 and I would really like to. However to do that, I really must reread Unwind. You can read my review here. 

9 | A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket

I’ve often spoken about this series and my love of it. Each year I think to myself ‘this is year I’m going to reread this series’. But it never happens. Hopefully now that rereading is a thing on Goodreads I will actually be more motivated to pick up The Bad Beginning and begin the Baudelaire’s story again. Read my thoughts on the series here. 

10 | Holes, by Louis Sacher

The first time I read this book it was actually read to me. It was year 8 at school (so I was 12), and each day my teacher would read a chapter or two from the book. Occasionally one of us students read aloud too, and it was the most wonderful story. I remember putting it all together in my head and having a whispered ‘ohmygosh’ moment and my friend just looked at me blankly. ‘Just you wait til you realise!’ I said. Loved this book a lot.
