It’s time to start the Goodreads Reading Challenge 2023! Can’t believe we’re in 2023 already! And here I am, continuing my annual tradition of sharing how many books I hope to read in 2023.

I love setting my Goodreads reading goals for a new year, and even though for many years it was the same number each January, there have been a few years where I’ve branched out and changed up the number.

And that’s what I’m doing this year!

But before we get into that …

What is the Goodreads Reading Challenge 2023?

The Goodreads Reading Challenge is an annual reading challenge hosted by the book website, Goodreads. It encourages readers to set a goal for the number of books they want to read during the year and then track their progress.

It also allows readers to connect with others who are participating in the challenge, which can be readily fun, providing a social element to the challenge, if you actually comment on people’s posts about what they’re reading, that is.

Readers can track their progress, review books they have read, and join in discussions about books with other readers. It’s a great way to stay motivated, that’s for sure!

Each book you finish goes towards your Goodreads Reading Challenge!

For 2023, my goal is going to be 60 books. Some years I’ve set it at 40, some years 50. Sometimes I think it’ll be a busy year with not as much reading time, and then it’s not. Or I’ll over shoot and then try to catch up in the last quarter of the year.

In 2022, I set my goal as 50 and I read 74 (and a half, but who’s counting?). But the main reason I think I overshot so much is because I started listening to audiobooks at my job, so managed to listen to a few books a week that way. I hope to do that again in 2023, so I decided to bump up my number to 60.

Are you going to be doing a reading challenge in 2022?
