The year was 2014. The day dawned bright but became brighter still when a girl in her 20s discovered the wonders of country duo Dan + Shay. Music life would never be the same.

Since that marvelous day, the girl has listened to that first album, Where It All Began, at least 100 times through, and the songs individually at least that each (data gathered from iTunes song count column).

Fast forward to February 2016, and picture the wide eyed, stupidly grinning girl falling in love with a new song released by the country duo called From the Ground Up.

Jump forward to April 27th 2016. Same girl. Same band. New announcement: the pre-order release date for their second studio album, Obsessed. Excited 20-something girl then Tweeted about her excited about the then upcoming pre-order date, and had her life boosted with joy when Dan + Shay liked her Tweet.

Exhibit A:

May 17th: Pre-ordered the Obsessed album as soon as she could, Tweeted about her love of the new songs…received another like from the pair.

tweet life from dan and shay

June 3rd was a beautiful, sunny, but chilly winter day in New Zealand, and when she awoke from her slumber, turned on her computer for the day, her loyal iTunes was downloading the rest of the Obsessed album. So she tweeted about it (because, let’s face it, now she was getting pretty good at this Twitter business), and low and behold, Dan + Shay liked her Tweet again.

Life made. They’re pretty much best friends now.

Disclaimer: This crazy, country-obsessed girl knows full well that said mentioned country duo most likely likes every tweet that has their name, album or songs mentioned in it. However, this doesn’t make the whole situation any less awesome.

Listen to Dan + Shay on Spotify, or buy their albums on iTunes.
