"Where to get images for your blog" written in back on a light flatlay of camera, phone, earpods.

It would be absolutely wonderful if we could all take our photos for our blogs, wouldn’t it? And while, yes, those images that you take or produce are going to be better for your (they show your experience, your personal view, your face!), sometimes that’s just not doable.

It might be because of skill, time, patience … whatever it is, it’s not always possible for us as bloggers to take our own photos. But images for blog posts are so important, so you gotta get them from somewhere!

Let’s look at where to get images for your blog, whether you’re after free ones or you’re willing to sign up to a photo membership or subscription, or pay for the images as you go. There are lots of options out there, but I’ve collated just 10 of each to get you started.

Before we dive in: Often the images on sites, especially free, will say you don’t to attribute them if you use an image, but it’s always nice to if you can.

Free image sites for bloggers

1. Unsplash

Unsplash is the free image site you’ve probably heard of before. It has a huuuuge library of high-resolution photos from basically every single niche you can think of. You can use images on Unsplash for free, even for commercial use, with not attribution needed.

The other great thing about Unsplash is that it’s updated frequently by creators. You can also create collections of images to come back to, too.

Note: You can also sign up to Unsplash,+ which will get you access to a lot more content. This is apid, though.

2. Dupe Photos

Dupe Photos is one of my current favourites. While the collection of images is a lot smaller than that of sites like Unsplash or Pexels, I really like the vibe of the photos, and it seems more suited to social media.

You can follow creators, too, and also find short videos. All royalty-free.

3. Pexels

Pexels is one that’s been around for a long time, too, and offers free photos and videos that you can use commercially or on your blog. There is a huge range of images, from landscapes to portraits, product shots, travel, music, lifestyle… You name it, it’s probably up there.

Like Dupe Photos, there’s a collection function, too, so you can browse through collections of similar photos or photos on a particular theme, making it easy to find what you need for your blog posts.

4. Pixabay

Pixaby has over 5 million images, vectors, and videos available, which may seem overwhelming, but they have great search function and you can filter by lots of different factors. You can also find illustrations, graphics, gifs, sound effects, music, and more, not just photos.

They’ve got a good selection of blog-friendly lifestyle images, so it’s a good place to check out if you’re looking for images!

5. Kaboompics

Kaboompics don’t feel like stock photos. Sometimes you’ll discover that the photos that you find online feel so so stock. But Kaboompics (like Dupe Photos, too), don’t feel as stock as some of the others. They’re more editorial in style, which is great for lifestyle, home decor, fashion, and even flaylays.

They have recently launched Photoshoots, which is a series of collections of images that feel like they’re all a part of the same photoshoot. You can see what I mean here.

While most images are free to use, there will be some that include ‘Editorial Use Only cannot be used for commercial projects’, so just be aware of that when you’re browsing.

The other thing that makes Kaboompics stand out is that every photo comes with a colour palette, too! Super fun detail!

6. CreateHER Stock

CreateHER Stock is a women-of-colour-focused photography site, where you can sign up to their newsletter to get access to new, free images every single month.

They are stunning images, and feel really warm and authentic, which is just what you want when you’re using other people’s images for your blog posts. These are perfect for representation and diversity, and specifically aimed at bloggers, creators and small business owners.

Note: While you can access free photos, they also have a Premium option you can sign up for, with different payment options depending on what you need.

7. Styled Stock Society

Style Stock Society is a paid membership, but they also offer a bundle of 50 free images when you sign up with your email. It’s basically a look into their membership, so it’s a good way to trial the membership before committing to it.

The images are beautiful, soft, stylish and quite neutral; perfect for a range of creators and bloggers!

8. StyledStock.co

While StyleStock.co doesn’t have a huge range of photos, you might be able to find a couple that will work for what you need. These are totally free feminine stock photos that are soft, bright, and airy. They’re great for lifestyle, fitness, and small business, and there are even some seasonal images in the mix, too.

9. Canva

Of course, if you have a Canva account, then this is a great place to source free images (or get access to even more if you have a Pro Plan! Highly recommend!).

I absolutely love Canva and use it nearly every day for something (blog posts, social media, emails etc), and will use Canva more often than not for the featured image of a blog post – see how I’ve used text of an image? That’s from Canva.

Paid image sites for bloggers

As well as all the free websites for blog images out there, there are of course, paid websites. These are sites where you might sign up for a subscription or membership, or you might pay-per-photo.

1. Haute Stock

Haute Stock is a membership site for feminine, modern styled photos, which is perfect for coaches, bloggers, and online entrepreneurs. This is female-founded and designed for women in business, and includes stock photos, templates, and marketing graphics.

In the membership, you can set your brand colours so you can filter through the library of images, see curated mood boards for inspo, search by keyword or categories, and more.

There are a few membership options which you can find on their website, and they also have a set of free images you can download here.

2. Styled Stock Society

Back to Styled Stock Society! I won’t go into the details again (scroll back on up!), but the membership starts at $45 usd per month or you can sign up for a bit of a discount for the annual subscription, or go all in with their lifetime price.

3. Styled Stock House

If you’re looking for some brighter, colourful images, then Styled Stock House might be the photo website for you!

They have a huge library of lifestyle and home, business and entrepreneaushop (and blogging!), travel and design, and more.

Membership starts at $29 usd per month, or you can sign up for a quarterly or annual plan.

4. Ivory Mix

Ivory Mix was probably one of the first image websites specifically for entrepreneurs, bloggers, content creators etc that I was aware of, many years ago now. They offer other things, not just photos, these days, like content planners and Canva templates, but their photos are still a huge part of what they do.

They offer beautiful, feminine stock images, which are great for lifestyle, home, food, and creative blog niches. You can purchase packs of images or you can sign up for their membership, which includes access to photos (as well as content creation templates, captions, planning resources etc).

5. Creative Market

If you just need a handful of images for a project and you’re up for buying them, then Creative Market has a lot of images on it, sold by various creators. It’s a site that has everything from website templates to illustrations, icons to mocksups … and of course, photos.

You can purchase individual images, or small packs or large packs of images that all share a theme. Definitely worth having a browse – just be sure to check the licensing for each purchase.

6. Adobe Stock

One of the biggest stock photo websites on the internet, Adobe Stock does have a range of free to access image, but they also have a membership/subscription. This is going to be on the higher end for purchasing, if you’re part of a team or an organisation, then it might be worth it.

Of course, if you’re reading this, you’re probably a blogger, so I’d recommend checking out some of your other options before launching into an Adobe subscription (unless you already have one, in which case, definitely utilise Adobe Stock!).

The best way to get images for your blog: Take your own

The best way you can add images to your blog is by taking your own, hands down, as I mentioned before. But you’ll notice that even I don’t do that all the time. Why not? A few reasons, and you’ll find you might fall into a similar camp:

  • You haven’t got enough images, even though you did take a few, and you need to bulk out your blog post
  • There’s only so many times you can take a photo of your own laptop, aka your niche subject is such that you don’t actually call for new photos all the time, or you just need one to make it into the blog post
  • The images you did take didn’t turn out that well

So when you can’t take or create your own images and graphics for your blog, it’s good to have a few places up your sleeve to head to when you them.

If you’ve been wondering where to get images for your blog, then I hope this has helped! I’d love to hear from you if you use or try out any of these sites! Let me know in the comments.
