Can’t believe it’s time for a mid-year Goodreads update. Already.

But it’s the middle of July, and while the days aren’t technically moving any faster, it sure feels like they are. World, just slow down. Let me catch my breath.

It has been flying by in terms of books however. As of mid-July I have read way more books than I need to be on track with my Goodreads challenge. And I’m quite pleased with that. I set myself the challenge of 40 books this year, and I’ve read 29 so far. Well on track, and 8 books ahead of schedule, according to Goodreads.

Books vowed to read

Usually by mid-year it’ll be a miracle if I’ve read one of the five vow-to-read books we list over on Blogger’s Bookshelf. But this year I’ve already read three! What is the world coming to!? Didn’t write a review for Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas, apparently, but you can have a read of the other two.

Top 5 books so far

I’ve read quite a few 5 and 4-star books this year so far. There have also been some low rated books, but we won’t talk about them today. Out of these top 5, I couldn’t pick a favourite. They’re all so wonderful and just re-thinking about them now makes me want to reread them.

Planning to read next

But if those are the next five books I read then that’ll be a first. I always tend to think ‘yup, I’ll read that next’ but by the time I get around to it, I feel like reading something different. It can’t just be me, right?

How is your Goodreads Challenge coming along? What’s been your favourite read this year so far?
