The Auckland Food Show 2017

Every year the Auckland Food Show happens, and every year I miss it.

Not this year though! I finally made it along, and I was not disappointed. If you’re unfamiliar with The Food Show, in short, food. Lots of it. For 3 days.

Hosted in the ASB Showgrounds, the entire venue is full of stalls, booths, stages, food trucks and demonstration set-ups. From wine and beer to chocolate to organic food to decadent cupcakes to utensils to pots and pans…basically, if it’s food-related, it’s at the Food Show.

I didn’t really know what to expect, but I think it was so much a) busier and b) chock-a-block full of stalls that I thought. Every where you turned there was something new, and even though we made our way strategically around so as not to miss anything, I’m pretty sure there would have been something we missed.

After multiple tastings of a range of things, we bought some doughnuts from Pie Piper (one of them had bacon on it and it was a dream), and sat and listened to Simon Gault demonstrating how to make ravioli at the main stage. He also showed off his brand new sugar free tomato sauce which is being launched in October; the first sugar-free tomato sauce in the world that still tastes excellent. Definitely looking forward to that.

We also briefly saw Nadia Lim doing a demonstration, but I was gutted we missed Annabel Langbein. Ah well. Maybe next year.

My main excitement for the day was signing up for a 6-month subscription of Taste Magazine for only $29. That’s a bunch of magazines that are usually $8 in store, and we got a whole mag of goodies worth like $60. Score! Here’s what was in it:

We only spent about 2.5 hours there as we had somewhere else to be but could have easily had spent more. I will definitely be heading along next year. It was well worth the entry fee. Would highly recommend if you’re in Auckland for next year’s Food Show.
