A short trip to the Auckland Royal Easter Show
I do realise I’m a tad late in posting this, but my goodness the busy week or so I’ve had! Over the Easter weekend, my friend S and I went to the Auckland Royal Easter Show which happens every year here in Auckland. I had seen it advertised the previous two years that I’ve lived here, but this was the first time to managed to get to it.
It’s very carnival-y, with rides and ‘hit the duck – win a giant teddy bear prize’ games, with a petting zoo and food stalls. What we really enjoyed was the marketplace, where local and national small companies had gathered, selling everything from tie-dye shirts, to airbrush tattoos, to robot horses. It was actually S’s birthday, so she got her face painted, and we spent a long time checking out the jewellery section. That’s where I got my new Harry Potter Ring from.

We had heard mixed reviews about the Auckland Royal Easter Show. They used to charge people for entrance, but that went out the window this year, so it was only once you were in there that you had to start paying for things. Prices weren’t too bad, however, we didn’t go on any of the rides, so I can’t really comment on the worth or prices of those.
I had pork buns for lunch (I’m a sucker for a pork bun), and S had lemon pepper fish and chips, and both were decent prices. There were kids everywhere, and while we went on the first full day (Good Friday) the show continued on until Monday, and I can imagine it was that busy every single day.
If you have been meaning to check out the Auckland Royal Easter Show, then I think it’s worth it. It’s just a fun morning/afternoon out, and there are things to do and see and eat.
