Four Things To Do After Lockdown - This Splendid Shambles - Contributor

This year has been right up there as one of the most unpredictable in recent history. The COVID-19 outbreak has had a massive impact globally, and its effects continue to rumble on. As restrictions begin to lift, you may be looking back on time spent self-isolating and feel ready to make some changes in your life, but aren’t sure what exactly. Hopefully, if this is how you feel right now, these ideas will give you some inspiration to play around with and help you start making some plans beyond COVID and after lockdown.

Try New Things

Being indoors pretty much all day, every day, can leave you feeling ready to blow away the cobwebs. One of the best ways to shake things up is to try something new. With restrictions scaled back, now could be the perfect time to take up a new hobby or learn a new skill. It feels good to be able to move more and enjoy more time outdoors, so you may be keen to spend more time outside, and in the fresh air. Outdoor hobbies can boost your sense of well-being, so if you are looking to try new things, an outside sport could be perfect.

Refresh Your Style

If you spent most of the lockdown in loungewear and wishing that you could visit the hairdressers, then you may benefit from a post-lockdown style refresh. There’s nothing like a style makeover to help put a spring in your step, so why not give it a go?

Treating yourself to some new clothes, and getting a haircut should help you to feel better. Don’t forget to get some new accessories, and if you wear glasses, choose some new eyeglasses here to suit your new look. These changes should have you feeling ready to face the world once again.

Connect More

For many people, being away from friends and family was one of the hardest parts of self-isolation. Being able to meet up with friends and pop over to see relatives is generally taken for granted, but when this wasn’t possible, it highlighted the need to connect more with the people you care about. Re-connecting with loved ones may not be possible for everyone right now, but even a chat via Zoom can help you feel closer to them and see their faces.

Make Big Plans

All that time spent at home and out of a routine certainly freed up the opportunity to think about the bigger picture and think more about what you want from life in the future.

If you found yourself daydreaming during the lockdown and thinking about all the things that you would like to do when it ends, why not try to make some of those daydreams a reality? While some of these ideas may seem unachievable, why not write them all down anyway and use them to inspire you? All big plans have to start somewhere, and putting together a list of yours may be just the first step towards making them a reality.

So what do you think? What are you doing after lockdown?
