A few weekends ago (two, to be precise) I jumped on a plane and headed down to my home town. It was my best friend’s birthday, so there was no way that I was going to miss it. Like all our parties over the years, it was a dress up party. Yes, she was turning 24…but we will never stop dressing up in costume. It’s just way too much fun! Anyway, when I had been down previously (only a few months earlier), we had been talking about what sort of theme she was going to go with. We’ve had a great deal of great costume/themed parties over the years, including Disney characters (I went as Chaca from The Emperor’s New Groove),a Heroes and Villains party (I went as Bubbles the Powerpuff girl), a Halloween/Guy Fawkes party (I went as a rag doll), we even had an Avatar party (where we all dressed up in blue and put blue lipstick on). Any excuse to dress up, we take it.
My friend eventually settled on an Alice in Wonderland themed party, which was super exciting. While a lot of our friends couldn’t come in the end (*sad face*), it was still a whole lot of fun. Her older sister made an incredible cake, and we also made red roses out of crepe paper, and decorated the lounge room with roses and cards.
I thought I’d show you some of the pictures from the event, though not of everyone’s costumes, as I don’t want to spread their faces about the internet without their permission. I can tell you, however, that we had an Alice, a Mad Hatter, the Red Queen (my best friend), two lots of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee (one set from the cartoon version, another from the more recent Tim Burton version), we had a Knave of Hearts, Alice’s tutor (coz he couldn’t be bothered dressing hard core. *rolls eyes*), and even Lewis Carroll himself. And me? I went as the March Hare. You may have seen the pictures on Instagram.

Look at that silly dog getting a little too close. I would have shown you a different picture, but that’s the only one I could find that was a whole costume shot. You also can’t really tell, but I have like a brown tulle skirt under that blue one, that poffs everything out and makes it bigger than it actually is.
It was so much fun! Isn’t that cake amazing!? If you have the chance to either a) go to an Alice in Wonderland party or b) host one…totally do it. You can be so so crazy and it’s all okay because it’s crazy to begin with! And in case you’re wondering, yes, we did have tea.
