How do you balance productivity with self care?

You’re a person who really likes to get things done. Perhaps you’re running a business, travelling around the world, or starting a whole new project in your life. Maybe you’re raising a family. Whatever you are doing, you have a jam-packed schedule.

Sound familiar?

We have the tendency to just keep going, just keep getting things done. It’s important to stop for a moment and figure out exactly how to find some time for you. If you’re spending your life running around, ticking off things on your to-do list, and taking over the world, where do you get time to relax and indulge in a bit of self-care? It is essential; as the saying goes, you can’t pour from an empty jug. When are you getting a chance to fill up your jug?

Here, we’re going to look at some top tips for how to balance your need to be productive and get everything done with some basic self-care.

Schedule in time for you

If you are generally an organized, efficient, and productive kind of person, you probably have schedules and to-do lists all over the place. Go and take a look at them now. Have you scheduled in some time for you and some self-care activities? Probably not.

By putting these into your schedule and adding them to your to-do list, you are much more likely to get them done. Generally, productive people do not like to let tasks roll over too much, so this is an excellent way of ensuring you get some time for you.

Take advantage of assistance

Productive people are also generally people who like to be in control, yet delegation and automation are some of the best ways to be productive. If someone offers to take a task off your hands and they are capable of doing it, whether it is adding some new data to a spreadsheet at work or offering to pick you up some items at the grocery store, let them. In the same vein, if there are tools to help take some of the pressure off, use them. That may be social media schedulers that automatically push through updates or templates for recurring documents, which you can find out more about when you visit Templafy.com. There are some fantastic tools out there, and they’re worth exploring if you haven’t already.

Don’t overschedule

Most of us have a tendency to underestimate how long a task will take. We take on so many things, forgetting about things like childcare issues, whether we feel up to all of the tasks, general daily life disruptions, technology failure, and so on.  It only takes for one of these things to occur, and it can throw us out for weeks. When you take on a task, assume it is going to take you fifty percent longer than you think it will and block in that time. This will mean fewer tasks on your to-do list but gives you time to focus on them, and if you do get them done, you have more time to spend on you.
