What is Frozen Tides by Morgan Rhodes about?

Frozen Tides picks up where Gathering Darkness finished. Magnus and Cleo are guilty of treason, Jonas is hunting for the elementia, and Lucia is hanging about with a Fire god (as one does). Frozen Tides has some of the characters boarding a boat and heading over the seas to the land of Kraeshia as well, where somehow Rhodes makes you actually like the villainous Amara (whom we met in the previous book). How does she do that? I was hating on her from the moment she stepped into the story, but now I don’t know!

My Thoughts on Frozen Tides

There was a lot happening in Frozen Tides, the fourth book in Morgan Rhodes’ Falling Kingdoms series. All the characters are fighting for something way bigger than just themselves now, whether it be love, their countries, revenge, and while they’re all so different, they definitely have this in common.

While in the first book I was more of a fan of Lucia than the others, as the story progressed, she’s now my least favourite of the lot of them. But I liked Magnus more than in previous books and I’m so happy that he gets together with a certain someone, and it’s all wonderful. In addition to Amara’s chapters, we also get Felix’s perspective in this book which adds this extra aspect to the plot. I really like Felix as a character and just really hope he doesn’t die.

The plot line in Frozen Tides has to be one of the best so far; it has everything you need in a good story: action, romance, mystery, intrigue, backstabbing, reunions, friendship and a great ‘didn’t see that one coming’ moment. So far out of the four Falling Kingdoms series I’ve read, this is a favourite. I can’t wait to pick up the next book in the series, Crystal Storm.
