I do realise we’re nearly at the end of January already (already!), but I haven’t shared with you guys my hopes for this year’s reading list. Each year I participate in the Good Reads Reading Challenge, and you can read about last year’s challenge and how it went here.
Last year I wanted to read 48 books, as the previous year I challenged myself to 45 but read 50. At about October/November in 2015 I realised that I was so busy and away so much that there was no way I was going to manage 48 books, and dropped my challenge number down to 45, which I just finished, ending the year on the wonderful Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell.
This year I thought I’d drop the challenge a little bit, anticipating another busy year. So in 2016 I hope to read 40 books, and here, at the end of January, I’m already up to 5 and a half. Doing well so far. However, it is still the summer holidays here in New Zealand, and so when work begins again and the great New Zealand Stand Still (aka summer) comes to an end, I suspect books will be read at a slightly slower rate.
Can I just mention, too, that all the books I’ve read so far this year I have loved. I’ve given them either 4 or 5 stars, so I hope that the rest of the year continues at this awesome level of story telling.
Fingers crossed!
