Lauren Daigle came to New Zealand, and she was incredible.

Each year I head down to Festival One, a music festival in the Waikato held over Auckland Anniversary weekend. While most years I just go for the day, this year was different: I booked an Air BnB with a friend (coz you know I’m too old to be camping in the heat and dust with 5,000 other people), and we stayed for the majority of the weekend.

The highlight was without a doubt Lauren Daigle, who stopped by in New Zealand on her world tour to play at Festival One, and then down in Christchurch. Friday 24th of January was the night she play to a crowd of several thousand, and it was amazing.

You know when you go to a concert and the artists don’t really sound like they do on their tracks? There’s a lot of editing done to create the perfect song for radio/internet/do-people-still-make-Cds(?). Daigle, however, was just the same; an amazing voice with an even grander presence. Some people just ooze authenticity, and while I didn’t meet her,Β  you could feel that and see that in her performance. She came across like a woman with a heart of gold and passion for life, and it was infectious.

Even if you’re not familiar with the Christian music scene, you still may have heard her music. Lauren Daigle won two Grammy Awards for her album and song, Look Up Child, and reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart with the opening song on the album, ‘You Say’. Chances are you’ve heard it. But if you haven’t, check it out.

While I went to the weekend festival, I really went for Lauren Daigle, and I am so glad I did. 10/10 would go again. She’s still on tour, so check out her website to find if she’s coming to a city near you and book a ticket. Seriously. You won’t regret it.

Were you at Festival One? Or have you heard Lauren Daigle in concert? What did you think!?
