A little while ago I shared with you an awesome book called Photocrafty, by Sue Venables. You can check out the post here, but in short, the book is full of photography projects and ideas that you can do at home with your DSLR, or if you don’t have one, any camera you do have, including your smart phone. One of the neat ideas in it is to take one object, and photograph 50 pictures of it, all at different angles and zooms.

This was a lot of fun to do, and it really makes you look at things differently, and makes you notice the little things that you might notice if you were to take a more ‘normal’ shot of it. I went with a New Zealand native flower, the pohutukawa, which we have growing in our garden. Here’s the 50 shots I took, including a wide picture for you to see what it actually looks like.

It was such a great mini project, and if you’re one to take photos (but come one, who isn’t these days? Right? Helloooo Instagram), maybe try it out. You don’t have to do flowers; pick anything you want! If 50 is too much, try 25, or even 10. Let me know if you try it out! I’d love to see what you come up with.

Thanks, Sue Venables, for the great idea!

Disclaimer: Sue Venables did not ask me to write this post. It’s just me trying out some great photography ideas.
