What a pitiful month for reading! I’m 100% blaming my trip to America though. I thought I’d take a big book with me so I didn’t run out of reading material (hence The Devil’s Thief) but I can only think of one instance where I actually had some down time to read, and it was for no longer than half and hour. I barely got through the first quarter while I was away, and that really set back the entire month. But having said that, it was a really good book and I enjoyed reading it. Fame was my pick for the Blogger’s Bookshelf Book Club theme for May, which was ‘pick a book from the Penguin Modern Classics series’.

Look at that number! It probably helps that I spent a grand total of 29 hours on flights in the last month; you really get a lot of downtown to watch films when you’re thousands of feet in the air. I enjoyed most of these movies – especially The Hate U Give, I thought they did an excellent job and stuck pretty much to the book – although Smallfoot was a bit of a let down. I thought I would find it funnier.

Mortal Engines was another one which didn’t quite live up to expectations. Visually it was incredible, but the story line and script just weren’t up to par. Mary Poppins Returns I actually really enjoyed, although nothing with replace the original, obviously. The Kid Who Would Be King I knew about but hadn’t seen any trailers or anything. I don’t even know if it actually made it to New Zealand cinema or not. But it was pretty fun; a kid pulls Excalibur from a stone in a construction site which leads to mayhem. Merlin was a brilliant character.

Shows

Three words: Game.Of.Thrones. And I’m leaving that as is.

Other shows I’ve been watching this month include Shadowhunters (which has just finished it’s last ever season – a bit like the GoT finale, I’m unsure how I feel about it), Riverdale (though I’m not quite finished this current season yet), and Splitting Up Together. I’m hoping to watch Season 4 of Lucifer this coming month, and keep watching iZombie and The 100, which I’m very behind on. Eek.
