The fastest blog posts to write might not be what you think.
Sometimes it can take a few hours to write a blog post. And if every single blog post you want to write is going to take you several hours, then there goes all your time. You’ve got a lot to do as a blogger, so you don’t want to be spending all of it writing. There’s a lot more that does into blogging than just the posts, so we’ve got to make sure we’re doing those things, too.
So if it’s good to have some blog posts that don’t take hours on end, we need some blog posts that are quick and easy and create.
I’m a big advocate for quality blog posts over quantity blog post.
But you know what can kinda be a bit of a mix of both good quality AND quick to create?
List posts.
Think about: how many times to come across a short (or long!) blog posts that outlines ‘10 movies to watch when you’re feeling down’ or ‘3 books to read if you love XYZ’ or ‘5 blogs to check out if you’re a new travel blogger’. Probably quite a few right?
These list posts are very popular for a reason: They tell the reader what it is they’re getting, and they’re fast wins for people.
I can easily grab one of those 3 books and give it a go. I can see what movies I could add to the list. I can click through to those travel blogs and get some inspo. Or whatever it is.
Lists are great for readers, but they’re also quite quick to write. It’s a win-win situation for all.
5 tips for writing your lists (see what I did there?)
Try to keep them short
Five tips or products is a lot less overwhelming than 25. Of course, I don’t follow this tip of my own, and have lots of list blog posts that are more than this, but it is good to try and keep it down.
Short and snappy
You can still write about each point, but because it’s a list post, you can keep a bit more short and snappy if you need to. It doesn’t need to go on and on.
Link to older blog posts
Make sure you’re linking to your other blog posts, too. List posts are popular, so hopefully you’ll get some great traffic to them. Might as well keep them on your blog for a while.
Use your keywords
Even though a list post is a bit different to a blog post that’s more wordy, it’s still important to remember your keywords. There are lots of platforms and website you can use to do your keyword research. I like Ubersuggest.
Use Headings correctly and well
Make sure you’re still using your headings, like I’ve done in this blog post. If you need a hand with with your headings, check out my free guide on blog post structure.
Of course, you may find that a list post isn’t your fastest blog posts to write, but I definitely find it’s mine. You’ll get faster with every type of blog post as you become more familiar with blogging and also your niche, if you’re not already.
Have you created lists posts before? Or are they quite regular in your blogging schedule?
