Hanging up pictures with cute pegs and string has been a trend for a while now, and I love it. I’ll tell you a secret – I’ve always loved pegs. Wow. What a weirdo. But it’s true. In fact in high school the girls used to wear knee-high socks in summer and winter, and I used to peg a peg to the top of my right sock, on the side, every day. I don’t know why, I don’t know how I got away with it, but I did, and it was awesome. Now that that weird fact is out of the way…
I was looking at one of our displays of pegs and photos the other day, and was mostly look at the space between the photos, on the string, and was thinking about could be done to add a little something something to the display. I thought about the chunky beads I had used to make a necklace a while ago, and thought that they would be an excellent addition to the display. And I think I was right. I really love how this turned out.
How to make a DIY photo display with pegs and beads
What you need:
- Beads of your choosing
- String or strong thread
- Pegs of your chosing
You barely need a tutorial for this, but here’s what I did.
- Taking your string, cut it to the length that you’d like your photo display to be. Keep in mind where you’re thinking of hanging it, and be sure to include enough on the ends that you can use to tie it up.
- Thread the beads onto the string, either in a completely random order, or carefully planned.
- It may seem counter-intuitive but hang it up where you want it next.
- Next, spread the beads out along the string so you have an even number of beads, how you’d like them.
- Add in your pegs at either random or counted positions along the string of beads. Be sure to leave enough space for your photos to hang without overlapping.
- Hang up your photos!
An easy, no sweat-nor-tears way of adding photos to your wall, in a funky and creative sort of way.
