Even in death, Gram has a few tricks up her couture sleeve. A last letter from her with a cryptic clue sends Lily and three other teens on a treasure hunt that could change their lives forever-if they can survive it. And if they pull it off, they may be rewarded with more than just money. But they're not the only ones hunting for Gram's treasure, and soon the hunt becomes more dangerous than they ever could have imagined.

What is The Rosewood Hunt by Mackenzie Reed about?
The Rosewood Hunt by Mackenzie Reed is about Lily Rosewood – a girl with a plan. She’s always known she’ll take over her family’s company one day, and her grandmother, the chair of Rosewood Inc, has always been her biggest champion.
But then Gram dies suddenly, and the plan falls apart almost immediately. And then it gets worse … Gram’s quarter of a billion dollar fortune is nowhere to be found.
But even from beyond the grave, Gram has one more trick up her sleeve, and a cryptic letter sends Lily and three other teenagers on a treasure hunt that could seriously change all their lives – if they can pull it off in one piece.
And the prize might be worth more than just the money. But like all mystery money-is-missing stories … they are not the only ones after it.
My thoughts on The Rosewood Hunt
I actually received The Rosewood Hunt in the Book Advent Calendar Fantasy Box, and I actually didn’t know anything about it before then. But it was a really fun Young Adult mystery novel, with the vibes of Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson, The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, and also a bit of The Goonies, which has also been mentioned several times by people in reviews on Goodreads.
It was nice to head back into the Young Adult genre, having read fantasy, romance and romantasy pretty much on repeat for a while before I picked this one up. I enjoyed the characters for the most part, and the clues, mysterious puzzles and riddles kept the story clipping along at a decent pace.
“Sometimes I don’t understand how the two most powerful words in the world are both four letters, one syllable. How they roll off the tongue like nothing but impact everything. Hate and love.”
While I did enjoy reading this at the time, it’s also one of those books where I can’t remember details now that I’ve stopped reading it, and I definitely needed the synopsis to help me go back and write this post.
Was it a fun YA read? Yeah totally. Would I read it again? No. Do I recommend it? If you’re looking for a light-weight, short YA read that has some enjoyable characters, an entertaining plot line, and puzzles to solve … yup!
But if you’re looking for something that will engage your brain a bit more, then maybe not.
I’d love to know if you’ve read it, though! Drop me a comment and let me know!
