World of Wearable Art WOW Exhibition Te Papa Wellington

Be swept away into a land of imagination at the WOW Exhibition Wellington

It’s grand. It’s colourful. It’s fantastical. It’s a show that showcases the creativity and imagination of artists near and far. It’s the World of Wearable Art. And the WOW Exhibition Wellington has been on display in Te Papa Tongarewa.

It’s nothing short of stunning.

What is the World of WearableArt?

What started in a marquee in a marquee in the city of Nelson has turned into a worldwide phenomenon, showcasing artists from around the globe, right here in New Zealand’s Capital city of Wellington.

World of WearableArt Up Close – A Theatrical Exhibition is a spectacular brand new experience created for all ages that translates the theatricality of the annual WOW Awards Show into an unforgettable immersive experience.

The show, which happens every year, is not only a spectacular showcase of the creativity and the imagination of the artists, but it’s complemented with lights and music, making it truly a night to remember.

What is the WOW Exhibition Wellington?

While the breathtaking World of WearableArt shows draw in over 60,000 people every single year, at the end of 2019 the team at WOW took some of the best of the past years and displayed them in the national museum for all to come and visit … close up.

Until February 2021, you can visit the WOW Exhibition Wellington and get up close and personal with these impeccably designed and crafted works of art. And it is well worth it.

What the exhibition holds

There are around 30 works of art displayed in all their glory around Level 4 of Te Papa. After purchashing your ticket for a certain time slot throughout the day, allow for about an hour to wander through (although if you’re not one for lingering, it can be done in a half hour just as easily).

The arts span from over the years at the World of WearableArt shows, as well as a video presentation about WOW and how far it’s come.
