The BoMoSh October

Welcome to the BoMoSh!

The BoMoSh is a post for Books, Movies and Shows. I’ll be sharing what I’ve read and seen in the last month, and I always welcome suggestions for books, shows and movies. Leave me a comment if you think there’s something that I might enjoy.

Books | 9

  • Crooked Kingdom, by Leigh Bardugo
  • Wayward Son, by Rainbow Rowell
  • Pumpkinheads, by Rainbow Rowell (graphic novel)
  • Ninth House, by Leigh Bardugo
  • Bloodlust and Bonnets, by Emily McGovern (graphic novel)
  • Rules for Vanishing, by Kate Alice Marshall
  • Full Disclosure, by Camryn Garrett
  • Heartstopper Vols 1 & 2 by Alice Oseman (grpahic novels)

At the end of September I started re-reading Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo for our Blogger’s Bookshelf Book Club pick (a book that was also a TV or movie adaptation, and this duology, along with the Shadow and Bone series are becoming a series – they’ve recently announced the cast and started filming!), and it was actually so so so great to read it again. I love this duology a lot, and even more for the second time through. That also completes my re-read of Bardugo’s books that I wanted to re-read this year, which I’m rather pleased about.

September also saw the release of Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, which I read for the October book club theme (an author with an alliterative name) and because it was sitting on my shelf for about 2 weeks before I couldn’t handle it anymore and I needed to read it. It was so worth it and I loved it (maybe even more that Carry On!?). Pumpkinheads was so stickin’ adorable, and is another recent release from Rowell. Ninth House, by Leigh Bardugo, and Rules for Vanishing, by Kate Alice Marshall for both spooky reads for the Halloween season, both fantastic.

I managed to get sick and was home from work and ill for about 6 full days. The first couple of days I couldn’t bear the thought of reading, but then come day 4 I decided I needed to finish reading Ninth House and then I picked up Rules for Vanishing and then Full Disclosure, and then Heartstopper Vol 1 and started and finished them all in one day. I literally did nothing else.

Movies | 1

  • JoJo Rabbit (2019)

Taika Waititi is a genius and JoJo Rabbit was absolutely brilliant. A mix of hilarity and ridiculousness and yet somehow it was profound and cut to the heart at the same time. If you haven’t seen this gem of a movie yet, then I highly recommend it.

Shows

I finished watching Elite Season 2 this month, and started and finished The Politician (WHAT A RIDE). I also managed to finished Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 6, and started The Good Place latest season. I also decided i was about to time to pick up another season of Supernatural. I’m waaaay behind, and always have been, but I usually watch at least one season per year, sometimes two. I started Season 12 at the end of October because I’m fully aware that the final season has just started and I wanted to try catch up a little more.

Can we just for a moment about Disney+!? It’s being released here in New Zealand on the 19th of November and I couldn’t be more excited about it if I tried. I’ve been following along on Twitter and just online in general, trying to get as much information as possible. One of the things they’ve been doing is releasing the names of all the movies and shows that are going to fill up the online catalogue, and you guys, it’s good. Like it is so good. Like “leave me alone for the rest of my life while I curl up on the couch under a blanket with endless cups of tea and watch Disney” good. The new shows look and sounds amazing (hello new Star Wars show!), and the old classics are all back (be still my Disney princess heart) with some reboots too. in short, super excited about and you should be too. Let me know what you’re looking forward to watching on Disney+!
