If you’ve ever wondered what actually goes on inside a blogging membership – not the sales page version, but the real, behind-the-scenes version – this one’s for you. Because I get asked about it a lot about The Blogging Room. What do we actually do each month? What does it look like as a member?
So you know I wanna jibber-jabber about this! I’m going to run through what happens inside The Blogging Room each month, and I was originally going to say ‘exactly what happens inside TBR each month’ … but each month is different. Each member engages differently, depending on a few factors.
But let’s get into it! I’m going to share a bit about what we actually work on TBR each month, take a look behind the curtain, share about some of the epic speakers we’ve had over the years, and what an actual month might look like.
Peeking behind the curtain of my blogging membership
Personalised support
When someone joins The Blogging Room, I like to jump on a short call with every new member so I can meet them, hear their story, and understand how I can best support them inside TBR. I was on a welcome call with a new member just recently, and she said something that really struck me:
“I’ve signed up to multiple blogging memberships before, but none have ever asked how they can support me.”
And that made me so sad.
That is literally the whole point of having a blogging membership: So that someone who is a few chapters ahead of you can support you. The whole point.
🛋️ What this looks like practically: You have your Connection Call with me when you join, then through our live classes and opportunities to ask questions throughout the month, you get personalised support that is going to help you specifically with what’s going on with your blog. Yes, much of what we do is for the whole group, but if you want to figure out how things can apply to your blog, you have space to do that.

It’s not the same thing on repeat
One of the things I hear most from members is that they love having a reason to show up each month – that accountability! The membership isn’t a static library of content you sign up for, dip into once, and then forget about (we’ve all done that with an online course, right? 🙈).
Every single month has a focus. A theme. Something we’re all working on together. And more often than not, we bring in a guest expert who knows their stuff inside out to teach it.
That’s what keeps it feeling fresh – and that’s what keeps members actually making progress.
🛋️ What this looks like practically: Each month we have a live masterclass taught by either the aforementioned guest expert in their field, or by me! And it’s this masterclass that helps determine a bit of a theme for the month. Then we form a challenge to implement what we’ve learnt, and members can participate if they wish, or they can truck on with other things they’re working on.
The guest experts we’ve had inside
The calibre of people who’ve come inside the membership to teach is something I’m genuinely proud of.
Every month, it’s either me or a guest speaking live (occasionally pre-recorded, but usually live) about a particular blogging or blogging-adjacent topic, and I, for one, have made the absolutely BEST connections with incredible women all over the world simply by collaborating with them in this way.
For the members, though, it means they’re not just hearing from me over and over again. 🤣🙈
And I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not the expert in all fields of everything – haha!
So when the blogging membership needs someone to talk about something like email marketing, or Pinterest, or SEO … yes, I can absolutely cover the basics for them, but wouldn’t it be so much better to have someone who actually did that thing all the time? Wouldn’t it be better to learn from someone who didn’t just dabble but really knew their stuff?
Yes. For sure.
Here are just a handful of the incredible women who have joined us in TBR over the years.
Natty Davis – Email Marketing
Natalie “Natty” Davis joined us a few months after we launched and gave a superb talk about email marketing and how we could be using our blogs and email lists together. Her class is actually the reason that The Blogger’s Dispatch exists!
Mckayla Spencer – SEO Foundations
SEO gets a bad reputation for being overwhelming and technical. Mckayla Spencer completely changed that. She broke down the foundations in a way that actually made sense, with some really practical things that bloggers could be doing straight away to start improving their SEO. This is one of our most popular classes!
Kayla Watkins – Pinterest & Blogging
Pinterest is one of those platforms that bloggers either swear by or haven’t figured out yet. Kayla Watkins is firmly in the first camp, and she showed us exactly how to use it to bring consistent readers to your posts long after you’ve written them. I absolutely love Pinterest, and to have Kayla come and chat to us about how to use it well was so good.
Emily Lauren Dick – Brand Identity
This one went deeper than colours and fonts. Emily Lauren Dick helped members get clear on who they actually are as a blogger – and how that comes through in everything they put out, not just how our blogs look. This was another great masterclass!
Anita Dykstra – Evergreen Content
Anita Dykstra‘s class was all about writing posts that keep working for you – bringing in readers, clicks, and traffic – long after you’ve hit publish. If you’re going to put the work into writing something, you want it to have a long shelf life. Anita showed us exactly how to do that when she came and spoke about creating evergreen blog content.
Mackenzie Heflin – Storytelling in Your Blog Posts
Mackenzie Heflin is a brilliant storyteller. She came into the blogging membership and taught us how to weave real story into your writing in a way that keeps readers hooked from the first line to the last. If you’ve ever felt like your posts are full of good information but somehow still feel a bit flat, this one was a game-changer for a lot of members.
And that’s just a handful of the months we’ve had since 2023 when The Blogging Room launched. There is so much more where that came from. 👀
🛋️ What this looks like practically: Each month, I create an Event with all the details and the Zoom link, and members can let us know if they’re coming or not. I also send out an email, as not everyone in TBR is on Facebook.
We meet live together on Zoom (unless it’s the rare occasion it’s been prerecorded for us), and the speaker shares for about 45 minutes, after which there is a time for questions.
I think make sure I get the replay of the class up as soon as I can afterwards, so that if you missed it, you can catch up at a time that suits you. We also try and mix up the timings of the classes too, so that you have the chance to come to a live one if you’d like (time zones, amiright?).

So what does a typical month inside TBR actually look like?
Good question. Here’s what being inside the membership looks like month to month:
- That Connection Call I mentioned is the first thing we do together when you join and then …
- You get a training or workshop from our guest expert – recorded, so you can watch in your own time if life gets busy.
- There’s usually live time together too, whether that’s a Pinterest Party, a hot seat session, or a co-working call where we actually sit down and get things done.
- Resources, templates, or checklists often get dropped in, too, depending on the topic.
- And the community is always ticking away in the background – people sharing wins, asking questions, and cheering each other on.
It’s structured enough that you always know what to expect each month. But flexible enough that it fits around real life and what’s actually going on.
What members actually work on and get done
Here’s the thing about a blogging membership (or heck, any membership!)- it’s only as good as what you do with it. But when you show up, you can make real progress.
- Posts that have been sitting in draft for months finally get finished.
- Schedules that used to be ‘once a month’ jump to 4 -8 times a month’
- SEO finally starts to click.
- Ad networks approve your application.
- Pinterest starts sending actual traffic.
- And so does Google.
But of course, you gotta put in the time and the work. There’s no point you being in a membership or inside a course or a hub of any kind, if you’re not making use of the things that you’re there to make use of. You’ll not progress if you’re just sitting in the background.
Some things the members will work on over the course of the month
- Writing new blog posts for their blogs
- This might be a listicle, a review, a guide, a thought article, you name it!
- Updating older blog posts
- If you’re new to blogging, then you might not have many blog posts to update, but those that have been for a few years will have blog posts they can go back to and make sure they’re up to date.
- Creating Pins for Pinterest
- We have a call each month called a Pinterest Party, where we get together on Zoom for an hour or so and work on our Pinterests. Whether that be creating new pins and scheduling them out, or tidying up some back end things liek board descriptions, or researching keywords for upcoming Pins we might be creating.
- Work on SEO
- SEO (search engine optimisation) isn’t really a set it and forget it type of thing. We need to be checking in on blogs every so often and making sure that they’re all hunky-dory and doing what they’re meant to be doing.
- This might look like fixing broken links, or rewriting an About Page or checking site speed.
- Planning the next season
- Occasionally, we’ll also have a call where the goal is to plan the next season. So that might be the next quarter of blog posts, or the next 6 months. It’s really important to stay a bit ahead of the game when it comes to blogging, so this is a great way to do this.
- Blogging-adjacent tasks
- These are things like writing emails to your list, or perhaps creating related Instagram content, or working on their freebies/opt-ins
And of course, there’s probably more! But those are just some of the things we work on throughout the month!
Who The Blogging Room is really for
This membership is for the blogger who’s serious about growing – but doesn’t want to figure it all out alone.
The one who’d love access to a lineup of expert teachers but couldn’t justify hiring each of them individually.
The one who wants community, structure, accountability, and something to actually work on each month.
It’s not for someone who wants to sign up and sit back. Like anything, it works better and you get more out of it when you show up.
If you’re a woman in business or blogging and you’ve been looking for a community where you can learn, ask questions, be supported and stay accountable, I’d love to invite you to join us in The Blogging Room.
Grab yourself a drink, pull up a chair, and let’s get your blog back on track.
