Best YA Books About Christmas

Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan

We’d be wrong to start this list with anything but Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares. I absolutely loved this book, and to be completely honest with you I might need to re-read it again this year. The movie was pretty good too, I thought! If you haven’t read this book, I recommend picking up this Christmas!

Let it Snow: Three Holiday Romances by John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle

Another one that’s been turned into a movie (didn’t love this movie in relation to the book, but enjoyed it if I forgot the book existed…), Let it Snow is there different stories by YA writers John Green, Maureen Johnson and Lauren Myracle. What makes this book fun is that by the end story, the characters start to overlap and draw everything together.

My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories edited by Stephanie Perkins

Another compilation YA Christmas book, this time with 12 different festive stories. Well-known YA authors come together to create the perfect Christmas book for YA readers; we’re talking authors such as Holly Black (The Cruel Prince series), Jenny Han (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before), Rainbow Rowell (Fangirl), and Laini Taylor (Strange the Dreamer) … among many others. Books like this are perfect because each tale is a stand-alone, and you can either read the entire book in one sitting or take your time and read it over the course of 12 days. Reading My True Love Gave to Me is definitely a fund way to spend the festive season!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, by CS Lewis

If you haven’t read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe yet, then Christmas is the perfect time to do so! And it won’t take you long (it’s only around 200 pages), and it’s very Christmassy. As the children step into Narnia, it’s always winter but never Christmas; the snow is always falling, there are huge coats and hot drinks, sweet treats and evil icy Queens … if that’s not a combination for a great story then I don’t know what is.

Note: Not really YA but it’s an enjoyable tale no matter your age!

Almost Midnight by Rainbow Rowell

Okay, okay so this book is actually about New Year’s Eve, but it’s close to Christmas, right? It’s still the festive season! Almost Midnight is really short and sweet book with two stories: Midnights and Kindred Spirits. The lovely drawings in the book are by Simini Blocker (who actually has a character named after them in Midnights), which adds a special touch to the two stories.
